Hi all. I just joined today, these forums (fora?) look like fun.... Asian women get a raw deal in many ways in the Middle East, by Asian I mean Indonesian, Indian, Chinese, Filipina, etc. Indo and Pinay housemaids are often terribly abused in the house (and not just by men)judging by the internation...

Millenium Hotel very close, has Biggles, a cheapish pub type restaurant. Same hotel, Cactus Jacks for tex-mex type food, not bad, low on atmosphere, also I remember you may get some 'working girls' standing at the bar in the evening, not intrusive though, families do eat there. Meridien Village, beh...

Hi Mark, buy yourself a ticket to the Rugby Sevens World Cup next month. Buy some beers and wander/sit around chatting to everyone you meet, it's a really friendly event (the yearly seven's championsips are, for sure), even if you don't know rugby. So many nationalities are there, having a great tim...

Red Ho ?? Interesting I didn't see any Native American working girls here yet... RobbyG, I guess you mean Dubai not the Netherlands, where it's available over the counter (I accidentally typed 'counter' without the 'o' first, Freudian or what....?). But in fact 'the oldest profession' flourishes eve...

Agree with Chocoholic, this year you really need to have at least 3-6 months' worth of basic living expenses in the bank (or otherwise the cost of a flight home), because a lot of jobs are going to disappear this year, one could be yours (or mine, wah!!!) This is one country you don't want to be cau...

Skyper, cheap clothes shopping in Bur Dubai is a good idea, the shops in the Cosmo Lane (Meena Bazaar) etc. I go to get made to measure stuff in a tailors there which OK is not the cheapest way, but then nip down the street to buy three pairs of damn trendy sandals for 60 dirhams! A bit more expensi...

If you're at all interested in Nikons, go to Grand Store in Dubai Festival City. Ask for Mike. If you want to see all the different brands of cameras, go to Dubai Mall. No other mall has Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Sony, and Pentax in such close proximity to one another. I echo quatro's recommendation t...

If you're lucky you can share a maid with another household (maybe next door's or something). It's not legal though. Regular pay for a legal maid I think is still something like 1200-1500 Dhs per month (maybe bit more now), plus some paid holiday, a flight ticket home once a year, maybe a Christmas/...

By the way if a maid knocks at your door asking for work check her out thoroughly (no, not like that..), some of them are on the run from previous emloyers for various reasons (not always their own fault but still mean they are illegally staying in the country) and you might be getting into problems.

LOL I agree about the salesman, but I had just bought around $3000 worth of gear from him so he wasn't too bothered I guess :) Yeah I see your point, the basic filters still have uses, it's just a lot of the fancy effects ones I guess you can ditch now. ...until I see an article in Digital Photo Pro...

Welcare does have some very good specialists in some fields, but there are other options too. Ring a good GP like Dubai London Health Clinic and ask for recommendations and get specific details of the specialist's references. Check them out on the web also befoe you commit.

Did you ask them? They are represented at the Dubai Metals and Commodities Centre:

PAMP Gold DMCC

Maybe they can tell you.

Isn't gold going to fall if the Dollar is stabilizing? I have no idea. Or do you just want to get a lot of money out of UAE fast...don't answer that!

Trust a Frenchman to think that production line soft p<3n is romance. Betty Blue surely is better???

The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, not a traditional romance, but anything by Peter Greenaway is astonishing.

This is a great thread, heartwarming!! I guess it's easier to make true connections when you're not both deafened by drum 'n bass and wired on vodka and Red Bull LOL. Also I think that once the emotional link has been made, maybe the physical appearance is not quite as paramount (or tell me otherwis...

agreed, it's great and refreshing daisy, and yes, for over 40's as well as under, sure...but be careful about the 'public' bit, we are in the UAE!! Respect for local culture has gone to the dogs in the last few years, it's a shame I reckon.
