Re: Woman Claims Ownership Of The Sun

Yes, this is a good story and it's also nice that she very generously wants to give most of the royalties collected from the sun to charity. Trouble is that possession is 9/10th's of the law. If she can't take posession of her new sun, then how is she going to get any enforcment? Incedently the man ...

Re: Man To Lose His Eye And Ear - Based On The Koran

It does say in the Old Testament that children may be killed for seemingly minor transgressions against their parents which I find disturbing. The bible is supposedly a great source of moral guidance and I find it unthinkable that I (or any other parent) could have their own children put to death. O...

Re: Man To Lose His Eye And Ear - Based On The Koran

The answer is apparently yes - they do exist in some countries and I hope they come into the 21st century. Recently a member of the religious police in Saudi killed his daughter (in fact tortured her to death) for converting to Christianity, however it seems possible that this person won't be convic...

Property agents driving me nuts.

Trying to rent a place in International City and I have a few gripes with property agents. 1. Property Agents insist on using a pre-printed contract with a few nasty clauses like you have to pay additional years rent if you don't give notice at the end of your contract. 2. Can't get a lease agreemen...

Re: Buying Apartment Experiences

As a side track, I've found it difficult to get finance here. The banks here ask for a processing fee up front, and if for any reason the deal isn't finalised (like as in my case the land title is delayed) then you lose the processing fee.

Re: Jaw Dropping Damage To FED Dragster - Btw She's Already

Not to imply that the engine isn't powerful, but something similar hapened to a stock standard Buick I owned once with normal driving. I think a bearing siezed and it threw a rod through the block.

Joseph Rent a Car - avoid like the plague

I rented a car from them for a week and returned it because the engine overheated while I was driving. I had harrassing visits and phone calls for a few weeks from Joseph rent a car wanting me to pay for the repairs to the engine, then I got a call from a policeman, so I went to explain what had hap...

Re: Joseph Rent A Car - Avoid Like The Plague

Yes, the Mrs is ok now. It came as quite a shock to her at the time as she was so looking forward to the holiday, but she thought she would be spending it in prison. It's unfortunate that her name was on the lease - I think I would have handled it a bit better.

Re: Property Agents Driving Me Nuts.

Finally got my lease sorted - but it was stressful. Even got the landlord to sign the lease before I handed over the cheques which the agents assured me would be impossible. The property agent still wanted to debate how unreasonable I had been long after the deal was signed and finished. I think pro...

Re: Jews Can Pray In Mosques - Not Churches

So Jews should pray in a mosque but are forbidden from entering a church? Well that does seem inexplicable.

If entering a church causes someone to experience Christianity, why would entering a mosque not cause someone to experience Islam?

Re: Jews Can Pray In Mosques - Not Churches

I think when the article mentions 'mosques' I think it refers to non-specific prayer rooms rather than exclusively Muslim rooms. Airports owned by a secular European government, I don't think would have rooms dedicated to a particular faith as this would be against their charter. Public prayer rooms...

Re: 503 Bangladeshi Women Publicly Flogged Over Past Decade

I don't know how widespread it would be, but I have read one account of a woman being 'confined to houses until death takes her'. It's not independantly verified, but it seems plausable since it is perscribed by the Quran and some Saudis take a pride in preserving the way of life that existed at the...

Re: Most Popular Auto Diagnostic Tool----Launch X431

Engine oil is definately an aquired taste. First few times I drank it, It was disgusting. It still is, but I haven't given up.

Each time I get out of hospital, people tell me I'm going to kill myself if I keep it up, but this is nonsence because I only use the highest quality oils in my car.

Re: Why Are Some Guys Afraid Of Marriage?

Zubber seems to be blaming Western influence for Muslims behaving badly. I've seen other faithful people quite sure that only the Devil makes them do bad things. I think the faithful are quite capable of behaving badly all by themselves and should accept responsibility for their own failings. Anyway...

Re: Religious Entertainment...

Very funny Zubber. Contemporary artists like to show jesus gesturing like that - as if he's experiencing the holy spirit or showing someone how big the fish was that got away.

Very brave BM - people have been killed for less. I suggest you take it down, it will upset people.

Re: Cheapest car painting?

Why do you want to change the colour of the car? It will be cheaper to paint the car in the same colour as they won't do inside the doors and under the boot lid. I think there are workshops which will paint a car for less than that, but I suggest you check the quality first. In my experience in this...

Quality of plumbing in Dubai

Got my water cut off by Dewa, called them and discovered a few things. One the water account still isn't in my name even though I applied to have it connected in February. Second, the previous owner has an outstanding bill of over 9000 AED just for water. OK, that seems strange - DEWA technicians ca...

Re: Controversy Surrounding Female School Teachers

There do seem to be a lot of suspended sentences in that list. At least a convicion means they won't be working with children again. School shouldn't be a pick up joint where teachers look for action. Actually I think things have improved since I was a kid. When I was in high school back in the 80's...

Re: Did prophet Muhammad have a photographic memory?

Well that's just the result of faith. Christians don't have a problem thinking that the Bible is the book that God wants them to have despite being fallible. Presumably the Bible isn't infallible as there are minor inconsistancies where two different books in the Bible discuss the same thing. It's j...

Oh very interesting! So locals walk around and demand money from foreigners!
