I just came in Bur Dubai to check out a room to stay, it's really very crowded, it reminds me a square in Athens (Omonoia) :D Bur Dubai (Meena Bazaar, Old Pakistani, Rolla Street areas) - yes, they are very crowded. But "Golden Sands" area is better and more into mid-high levels. Mankhool...

Re: Moving to dubai with family

Hello! I am pregnant (due in July) and am happy to get recommendations on doctor/hospitals to give birth. Getting insurance from your husband employer which including labour/pregnancy would be good as it is considered expensive even just to do a checkup for common disease. I am having difficulties ...

Haven't you seen the latest letters? 7days edits out the company names (to avoid lawsuits and losing ad money), so it seems like people are whining about anonymous companies. Just now I see only letters-to-editor up to 21/01/07, no updates except comments. I don't see mine being published, yet. Are...

My friend is a Thailand resident and holds Indonesian passport. She's visiting Dubai from end of March to beginning of May (about 40 days) for vacation. I've read and am completing the requirements (from dnrd.gov.ae) about applying it from Dubai immigration office (and then send the scanned copy/ori...

80K is too much for studio even in Golden Sands area, few months ago when I looked in that area, I might get it for 75000 for a 1BR (the new high rised apartment just behind/next to Centrepoint). Some other apts in that area also ranged 75-85K for 1BR. Sure mostly they are non-furnished and you have...

I used DHL when moving here (12 boxes). Expensive, but good enough. At least they didn't broke my electronics (printer, musical keyboard, etc). But sometimes even with used/personal items, they had to charge some taxes. Make sure that your friend declare them properly (packing list).

I didn't realize before that life in Dubai is quiet miserable for average person and living is SOO.. expensive there. I did same salary calculation as you have done here and I thought their offer is NOT too bad but it is not true. Canada is inexpensive compared to Dubai, rents aren't that high, tra...

I bought a cheap-o plastic one with 3 fans and 4 USB hub ports. It's a bit noisy that I should turn it off (become useless) and now some ports are not working. So I don't recommend the cheap one. Get the good one. I'm not sure it's available in Dubai.

I see there's a store specialized in organic foods nearby Satwa-Diyafah roundabout. The store about 200 meters before the roundabout on the right side when you go from Bur Dubai/Mankhool road. Perhaps you can find something there.

Normally when you apply your wife & child residence visa you need to show attested birth and marriage certificate. Or divorce certificate if your child is in your custody.

For unmarried one like you, I'm not sure. Maybe others can give some experience.

Is your child going to school? In my experience, for couple or family with baby/toddler, you can live decently (not the lux one) starting from 5000 AED a month (foods, transportations, weekly entertainment) excluding accommodation. School fee starts from 500 AED (nursery) up to 2500 AED (British/Ame...

I thought property was cheaper on the Deira side and have been told that its better to live on that side because of traffic. I dont fancy being sat in traffic jams all morning! In general Deira is cheaper than Bur Dubai and to the South (Jumeirah, Barsha, Marina, etc). If you work in Deira, better ...

Thanks for the info guys. At least i have options. As for wiring the money, its a rip off to be honest- it may be safer but the charges and poor conversion rate once my UK bank gets the money is ridiculous. Yes. UAE visa is a single entry visa only. Once your friend exits, she cannot re-enter. I suggest the better alternative is to first do your trip to turkey etc and then enter the UAE. This might be a good solution. We'll see if we can change our plan and bookings. One other option is that she stays...

Add several thousands more and you can get brand new Hyundai Tucson 2.0L 4x4. Most of people will not recommend to buy used car, unless you know mechanic/machine very well.

You didn't even specify what kind of brands, models, specification, etc. It's too general. How can one give you a good advice? You should be thankful someone give you an information.
