Guilty Of Murder Ot Not?

Guilty of Murder ot Not? Jan 26, 2009
People, you all know of the case of the local who ran over the 52 year british woman last year. Well it now seems, (as seen in the papers of late) that his lawers are trying to get him off the hook by stating that "he only intended to scare the woman".

Quoting Gulf news:-
" "My client didn't have the time to plan for a murder. It's a case of accidental death and we dismiss the Public Prosecution's uncorroborated charges of premeditated murder and attempted murder," argued Bin Suwaidan. "He did not have any premeditated intentions as there was no acquaintance or relation between him and the victim and what happened was due to a provocative argument between U.A. and the husband& this is an accident like any other."

Well, intending to scare or not - fact is she died during his antics. And is a murder a murder only if it is planned? If there is a fight between two people and one dies, isn't the other guilty of murder?

It will be a real pity and poor example if this guy is let off. And I've seen in other countries - several times a ruling in one case sets the precedent for similar cases in the future. If this guy is let off, everyone will cite this case and get try to get off the hook.

Depends if the case is treated like the US: 1st degree murder (pre-meditated) or 2nd degree murder (non pre-meditated)

It was no accident, he killed her. Halas. Guilty.

DK describes it correctly in his post. (1st and 2nd degree). 3rd degree is manslaughter e-g if your invloved in an auto accident and somebody dies.

Oh come on! It was premeditated! The guy drove over her twice deliberately. There are 3 witnesses to his act! He's guilty as hell, never mind 10 years, he needs to rot for life.

I hope the same treatment that alcoholic suggests for this person is suggested for her compatriots who've murdered and invaded millions of people and their countries.

Ah in UK we have murder ie with intent or premeditated

and manslaughter ie murder without premeditation

The case referred too here would have been classed as death by reckless driving which carries a similar sentence to manslaughter

anything else would be a PR disaster for Dubai. Image the headlines across the world.
However, after a few years he may be paroled.

A man went to a brain store to get some brain to complete a study. He sees a sign remarking on the quality of professional brain offerred at this particular brain store. He begins to question the butcher about the cost of these brains.

"How much does it cost for engineer brain?"

"Three dollars an ounce."

"How much does it cost for programmer brain?"

"Four dollars an ounce."

"How much for lawyer brain?"

"$1,000 an ounce."

"Why is lawyer brain so much more?"

"Do you know how many lawyers we had to kill to get one ounce of brain?"
