Just saw CNN Today. Saoudi Arabia is the complete opposite of the UAE. SA didn't put all of the petrodollars into Sovereign Wealth Funds. They say to have minor issues with financing of projects. I don't understand this kind of policies. Like Kashif said, why not give a visa for freehold property owners/investors for 10 years renewable. What is the reason behind the short term renewal? Do they want to create a new neighbourhood named: Dubai Ghosttownhouses...? I don't get this kind of policy...

Mostly when I'm talking about 'locals' I mean the emirati people. This is not completely correct I believe. Locals are also the expats and housemaids that reside in Dubai for lets say, a minimum of a year with no intention to leave. That would be a more complete definition of 'the local'. Locals are...
