Aussies in dubai Feb 07, 2006
I am a 28 yo bloke from Melbourne, within the next few months i'll be taking up residence in Dubai, i have been told it's a great place to live and work. Can anyone share some experiances when they had problems in everyday life so that i might never experiance them? :D

thank you

A great place to live. The summer is foul-but, hey, it's only weather. The traffic is bad, but you come from Melbourne-like driving home from the city after a footy match!! You're young too, so you'll probably enjoy the outdoor lifestyle- nice beaches. :D Welcome-you'll settle quickly!! :D

How much of and how long you're stuck in traffic will depend on A) where your work is and B) where you choose to live. You can't do much about A but you can do a fair bit with B to help reduce the 'footy' lags.

Beaches here are nice but I still prefer the beaches back home especially when you don't have to pay to go to the nice ones.

Jebel Ali is nice! Guys go kite surfing there which can be awesome to watch. Also the water is nice to swim in. Great for kids collecting shells and swimming. Plus people bbq down there, take their dogs etc. It's not crowded! :) There is a go kart place near by too-there is also a shooting range and a golf course nearby.

Aussie Legends is Dubai's number 1 gay bar. Others include Jewels and the Rattle Snake. The only time I'd go there is when the Rugby's on

What are you talking about - it is soooooo not a gay bar! Plus all the air crews hang out there too. What just because it's full of 'real' men it's a gay bar, purlease! I've never seen a wimpy guy in there.

Yeah I know alot of the Emirates crew get around in Oz Legends and you realise most of the cart tarts are fags! I'm telling you it's the gayest bar in Dubai.

Chocco, afraid to say, but quite a fair few of the 'real men' you refer to are cart tarts but that's not to say Aussie Legends is fagsville everynight. When they have the good sports events on, the atmo is pretty good.

Well I don't like the assumption that all male cabin crew are gay, it's just not true.

Agreed, definitely not all. Some come down to Satwa/Safa park to play bball and of the ones I've met there, at crew towers and the like I'd say you'd still have a chance with 30-40% of them - if they're not already taken.

If you want a 99% fag ratio cabin crew try Qantas - the spirit of Australia.

Yeah, thanks for the compliment, i like the humor too....

but my comment was based in personal experience...not that i have personally experienced any bi action, i mean i have had a Singapore Flight crew member try to pick me up...

it was about 4 years ago in Melbourne, i was dating the daughter of a Singapore Airlines flight crew manager, her father flew into town and we met him at the Hyatt, we also met his crew and he suggested we all go out to dinner, so we went to the casino, on the Singapore dollar, after that the old guys separated from the young crew and the we all slipped off to the night clubs, after many drinkipoos the male crew member's true colors come out, they become, less manly and more girly, i make the mistake of going to the toilet with these boys still in the same club. now separated from my g/f of the moment, this one male crew member decided to remind me of how I am a really nice guy and funny, and all the stuff i usually crap on to girls about to get some action, as i have a had a few drinks i didn't realize what is going on until he stops talking to me and just tried to stare into my eyes. then we kissed....ok that never happened I repeat that never happened... fortunately what really happened was that my g/f who was wondering where the f@#k I was spotted me, pulled me away from what could have been the love of my life, but as I am not gay was never ever "ever-ever" (have I made the point of not being gay strong enough???) going to happen. I then let everyone know that the guy they all thought was the only straight one in the group was probably the gayest!

the end

i repeat i am not gay.

c'mon richmc, anyone who has to say with such frequency that he is not gay, isn't comfortable with who he is and is usually a closet. in Dubai i find Kiwis and Aussies the nicest people but the percentage that are gay or bi is higher, I'd say second nationality is leb, then GCC'ers you can pm smiper420 and he'll direct you to the places to hang out but don't go to a gay wedding apparently they're always getting raided HAHAHAHAHA.
