Shafique, With no ill intentions, do you think islam is the best religion? Yes. It is the only religion that claims to be complete and final. Also, from a logical perspective, it stands up to close scrutiny. Cheers, Shafique Well, I've said a lot about the merits of atheism over my time on here and...

Who was bragging about salaries? Graduate or not, management consultancies generally don't recruit morons and compete only with investment banks for the top graduate talent. I don't know this person but they'll undoubtedly have come through a very tough process against many other people to get an of...

This all goes back to people feeling the need to have something to blame/ explain what is beyond their knowledge though. The gods take many forms as well, some linked to nature, the sun, animals etc. - all they're doing is taking their frame of reference and attempting to rationalise the unexplainab...

350k per year would be fine provided you don't have more than one child.

Most "villas" are in fact terraced houses and they'd be quite small at the price you asked, if you can get them at all.

when he comes, tell him to take his card and paper counterpart license, with a passport copy and passport, 100 dhs, two passport photographs and about 200 dhs and head on down to the Dubai Police Traffic dept. just off Interchange 4 SZR. He will have a temporary (6 months) UAE license. He can then ...

Springs are villas, Greens are flats, whatever you prefer. Spirngs are decent if not great quality, shared pools in only some of the developments. Greens places have shared pools in places too, often bigger than Springs. Other option out that way is Dubai Marina, same commute, newer flats and better...

Good Day All Rather than creating a new thread I thought I would follow on. I am looking to relocate from the UK. I have a job lined up. I will be coming with my girlfriend (of 9 years). I have 2 dogs and a cat :-) so you know the basics. I am 40 years old. I have a salary of 350,000 a year. I will...

The purple area is still being developed. Each zone obviously has some variation, but in general the orange zone (jumeirah etc.) is most expensive, followed by the red, green then yellow zones.

The internet city has unrestricted web access. In terms of buying, the main residential areas this includes are Dubai Marina and The Greens (all flats) and The Lakes and Emirates Hills (expensive villas). Buying property here entitles you to a residency visa I believe, not sure if you have to declar...

It depends a lot on your stage in life. I worked in California a bit in my previous job (San Francisco and San Diego) and although the US wins hands down on beauty, California isn't all it's cracked up to be. If you're young and single, I'd probably choose the US, you'll be pushed more professionall...

Another Dubai urban legend or not remains to be seen, My personal thought is they'll never have legalized gaming here in my lifetime. I think they'll have to. AD obviously has a lot of money but I doubt it will ever catch up with Dubai in terms of the image. There's loads of talk of "Abu Dhabi is 5 years behind Dubai, just wait and see what it's like" but everything they're building residency-wise is the same price or more expensive than Dubai w...

It's currently on ART satellite til the end of the season, then moves to Showtime. ART is actually very good, you get all the games live and has 6 channels dedicated to it so you get all the 3pm games live. Hope Showtime poaches the format.

Otherwise, take your pick from 100 pubs showing it.

Yes, but it could take a few months depending how the bureaucracy feels. The day you get your visa you can apply for her. Once she gets it, you need to write "no objection" letters in Arabic (you can get them translated cheaply) for her to work, drive etc. In practice, most companies will ...

Queen Liz for being in such a position for so long and toughing it out. She was the ruling monarch during second world war and had to keep churchill in line and sit down and contemplate the country being invaded and over turned by Nazi germany. Shipping isn't too bad. Furniture includes Ikea, Home Centre and the likes which are at the cheaper end, there's loads of stores though (not sure online) so won't take you long when you get here. Overall, think UK Ikea prices across a wider range of stores.

I just wonder how the two in question would have acted if they found themselves ruling the other country. I feel that the Sheikh would come out better - so my vote (despite the apple/pears thing) goes to SM. Again, had the Sheikh come to power in 1953 in this country with a mere fraction of the res...

I live in the free zone and internet speed and reliability has hardly ever been an issue, download speed 3 times faster than what I had in the UK for the same package. Re: Furniture

There is surviving and there is living!! Surviving is what the Ethopians do. You'll be fine. Judging by what your company is paying you just to relocate, I assume your wife will take the kids to school in an SUV, you can have Starbucks twice a day, and you can dine at Emirates Towers every weekend....

In that video, a guy lost a tail-light on a perfectly good Opel Astra. Tell your reasoning to him. The Iraqis know the policy too, how about looking in their mirrors and getting out of the way when they hear the horn? And before you start, I'm sure you'd be happy to wait in traffic if there were te...
