I cash American-sourced dollar cheques regularly at MeBank. Almost always they get it done in a month. Never less. Sometimes a bit more. What does it cost you? At MEBank, used to be Dhs 25 per cheque. Suddenly went up to Dhs 65 per cheque last year. Plus they use that exchange rate trick where they...

DEWA has no jurisdiction in Ajman. Who runs the electricity cartel in Ajman anyway? Costs would be around Dhs 700 max in the summer.

He will probably live like the rest of us poverty-line people from the Indian sub...

You might need a proper residence visa for a long-term car lease and an electricity connection. So what is your visa status anyway?

Take a look at International City too, although 2-bds are rare there. Within your budget though. 20 minutes from both places. I've done it in less.

I don't think they will allow you to buy a car on a temp license, since the car reg is linked to the license. But of course, the authorities here are unpredictable, depending on who you talk to at the department.

why does the middle east get the outdated is300 when N.america gets the IS350 these days????? and any idea when the GS350 will come out here? The IS300 is not outdated. It's just a different V6 engine. The old IS300 in USA had an inline-6. The direct-injection IS350 V6 uses catalysts which cannot h...

Expensive. Has lots of computer problems whereby they just replace entire expensive chips instead of trying to repair them, since greasemonkeys are not computer engineers.

Models before 1995 did not have such issues. No complicated computers.

thanks for that info gtmast, didnt know that. By the way, if you want a GS350, wait for the local ones. It will surely have less hp than USA due to removal of the direct injection feature, but the American ones again can't handle the petrol here. So expect the 272 hp ES350 engine in the GS here, in...

It's easy to bribe those low-paid Sharjah cops. But if you offer too little, or you come across a straight-arrow, get your unfinished business in order, because you'll become an all-expenses-paid guest of the state.

Seriously, I read somewhere that there isn't even such a thing as a 7-star rating. It's just something that marketers made up for the Burj. Tomorrow, I'll open my own self-declared 11-star hotel.

You will find that most places have standardized prices, except for the small-timers at Computer Plaza (also known as Al Ain Centre) and Computer Street in Bur Dubai. But then, their warranties might be dubious. The hypermarts just hand off the after-sales to Jumbo, etc depending on brand. Like I bo...
