I am amazed that no one is discussing the current situation in Syria.

The situation in Syria is bad and has been discussed before - with pretty much unanimity in views about the violence etc.

Indeed exactly one year ago we were discussing the subject:

(I was surprised that the thread is from one year ago - it shows how long this has been going on now!)

I doubt whether any of our views have changed - I know mine hasn't - all posters speaking out against the violence of the regime in Syria. The historical political background has also been posted about and nothing more is left to say there.

That said, in the past any news item involving Muslims doing any killing would have been hyped out of all proportions and presented as evidence that Islam is evil etc. I guess we're still getting used to those particular trolls not posting!
