With all due respect you are way to kind hearted and generous for Dubai. Maybe a less costly, less risky proposition in Malaysia would do better or if you are entering here just go small scale and survey the foot count and prices in all the mall food courts in dubai. Make a prior trip here and beg/request/plea dubai knight for ideas. Basically pick his brain if he allows you to !

The word gratitude gets lost in the "I me mine" culture that generally overshadows the good souls in the city. Yes there are plenty.

And please do not put my name in the same sentence with Dubai Knight. In all sincerity he's the it-man in dxb when it comes to analysing the social cultural economic strata/dichotomy of society there. I'm just a mere novice. Another dude or rather gentleman who knows his sh*t is Viking Warrior. Don't know why these white collar blokes are so militarily named on this forum.

Do check here on dubaiforum for DK's posts on restaurant reviews. They are very well written and I suspect he could easily get a dinner journalist job in Ahlan! ITP gulf news etc, earning 9k reviewing restaurants and places considering the current crap they have on

So very true.

Please let me know where I can find DK's post on restaurant reviews. It sounds interesting but I cannot find it.

And about Malaysia. I already have a restaurant here but man Malaysian Immigration Laws are a nightmare.

I think these people are taking tutions from Asian countries to spread bribey and corruption.

AH! Its a long debate .I will send another post to discuss this issue.

I have noted down your suggestion for a low cost and low risk business.

It would be a wise decission.

Thanks

Hmmm...never thought of myself as a social commentator, more of an objective observer with opinions!

I never wear a white collar anymore!

I just wish the magazines WOULD pay me to review the restaurants! I would not hold back!

Not sure how much (if any) you get paid, but there is a mob send you to restaurants to do reviews.
I'll dig their number out if you like?

I was a 'secret shopper' for a while, but they kept sending me to the same crap Lebanese fast food restaurant and I could not face another one of their meals! That was all about efficiency and hygiene and were the staff following their corporate manual.

I would prefer to be sent to nice restaurants where I was able to appraise and review the food and the abilities of the chef rather than checking to see if the toilets were clean...

Anyone want me to write a review of Mezzanine? Please?

Let me guess.
You told then the toilets looked as though some guy had crouched on the toilet seat and sprayed urine everywhere?

Actually, no. They were regularly cleaned, tidy, no tissues in the basket, mirrors polished and no fingerprints, ample new tissues in the dispenser, soap dispensers full and working, not smelly and very pleasant.

The food in the restaurant was still crap though...

Reminds me of the time I went to a lebanese restaurant located at Arabian Ranches, sage probably knows it, and ordered a beef burger.
Out came a disgusting burger with a homebrand frozen beef pattie looking nothing like the thick and juicy beef pattie pictured on the menu.
When I pointed this discrepancy out to the waiter, he said "It doesn't have to look like that, thats just advertisement".
Needless to say I walked out without paying which they found extremely odd.

I always fantasize about re-enacting for real the scene with Michael Douglas from 'Going Home'...with the machine gun and the McDonalds!

I specialise in those particular locations as the solids they produce are ample vittals to accompany the liquids of my choice! However I have sing the praises of one of two outlets at Wafi as the food is easily the best in Dubai in terms of value for money and quality.

There is a chef there who is simply a genius and I will always try and find out which outlet he happens to be working in before eating there. If its Medzo, then their menu is delicious from top to bottom. Even if he is on duty at the pool bar, the linguini ai gamberetti is to die for!

Recently I have been forced to sample various examples of sushi (work can be a bey-atch!) and there are some good, bad and average places out there. When I have finished my research, I should be able to give a comprehensive list of the winners and losers.
