hey everyone, im planning on visiting dubai this august with some lebanese friends that i met here in the states. i generally like to keep in shape and there is no way in hell im staying in dubai for a month without being able to go lift..

i was just wondering if u guys know of any good gyms.. like something comprable to bally total fitness.

also would they be willing to offer month-to-month memberships.. as in no contracts? im stuck with ballys for another year :) no complaints tho...

but yeah, thanks to anyone that responds...

there is a fitness first in Ibn Battouta Mall. also every hotel here has a gym you can get a membership there.

I dont think there is a bally total fitness here though.

figured there wouldnt be a ballys :? ...

thanks for replying whats the gym like in that mall u mentioned... i mean will it have good workout equipment... IMO hotel gyms are generally a joke. also so they offer month to month?

in terms of equipment.. i would need a bench (incline and decline too) a cable cross over machine, a smith machine, dumbells that go up to 100 pounds..
an EZ bar would be preffered but if they dont have one its no biggie i guess would be able to use a straight bar...

i would also like to know if the dumbells and weightplates are rubber coated.

can u give me an idea of what the price would be to sign up for a month?

will i be able to buy protein, creatine, and/or glutamine?

sorry for making the post long.. :).. thanks again :D

You will definately be able to find a decent gym, although they are a bit smaller than the ones in the US. So you may have to alter your training program a bit to fit the equipment you find. Where I work out there is no decline bench.

Actaully the hotels here are not bad. Or you can look for a health club & spa. They are more expensive....but the small weight rooms don't invest too much money on cleanliness.

I would go for Planet Nutrition for your supplements, its also a chain, much cheaper than GNC.

Dude not all the gyms here are a joke,

u just need to look around, try natural elements spa and fitness at le meridien in garhoud, airport road once you land here. they got a seperate machine room, seperate free weights room, stretching areas, spinning studio, cardio studio and advanced training room. also throw in three swimming pools couple of tennis courts along with it. If this is not enough they have their own nutrition bar and a spa for massages as well.

cheers,

Jerry
