Discrimination Against Locals?

discrimination against locals? Jun 29, 2006
I stayed at the millineum airprt once and a local resicent came in dressed like they do and the management told him he was not allowed in the bar. He was forced to sit outside. Is this common and does it make the local residents mad?

Its sad but then again in most countries, these places have dress codes. I doubt for example in Germans can go to clubs in their countries dressed in tradional clothes....

I can but not now , some other day , remind me and i ll shed some light on this new brand of Lewis :P . In my opinion , arab (UAE) do not have taste when it comes to style . They have money but it is useless.

this is my first post, hi all!
as a national really didn't like what some people think of the way we dress + do u think we give a s**t about what other people think. This is who we are this is how we dress. not forcing anybody to like it. But we force you to respect it. and if you think u don't like it then u r in the wrong place dude.
the guy who was not allowed to the bar. well, why go there at the first place, why u wanted to look so diff from ur srounding. if he want to drink there are so many other places .. just keep it to urself we don't need to see u.
but still know there are peolpe know how to respect and some need to be tought to respect.
mind my spelling not i the mood to spell check it :)

Considering it's your first post, you might have thought about the way it comes across. And had you actually read some of HP's other posts, you'd have realised that he's a troll who's sole purpose round here is to wind people up!

National dress is very nice, I think it looks great. However, yes you do have to be careful where you go, as the ministry clearly states that national dress (ANY) national dress should not be worn in clubs or bars, it's not just aimed at UAE nationals.

Also repsect has to be earnt! You can't force people to respect you!

Force of respect comes natural from a person to respect another … in terms for people, religion, culture …
BTW do u know how sometime – believe me on this – that I feel so bad for those – some of my friends – who wear suites, jackets and tie with leather shoes on this heat. I don’t know how someone could handle this with the heat.

And yes it was my first post and that what got me started. Not defending anybody but maybe enlighten somebody 

lungis are quiet nice i wear it all the time basically you get a cloth and wrap it around your lower part of the body and give it a good knot so that your lungi doesnt come off when your walking down the street and wink at some girl and all of a sudden your lungi comes off :D so if you cant get a knot then TAPE it :D

Discrimination against locals happens, through things like firms preferring to employ an expat over a local.

Well that's all changing isn't it with the nationalisation programme. But sadly that situation happens because 'some' locals give a bad impression of being lazy and not willing to work.

Even the two national ladies that work with my father tell him not to bother recruiting national, particularly men as they can't be bothered to work. That's coming from nationals, against nationals.

It doesn't help that the thought of firing a local is enough to send any firm's boots quaking.

Don't have to worry about that, those that can't hack it, quit anyway.
