Who is working today? Mar 23, 2008
Just curious if the DF people have one of those mythical 4 (or even 5) day weekends? Easter Sunday was an "elective holiday for Catholics" at my office. Glad I am the first (any only one) here to set a good example. I hope all my Muslim and Hindu staff are at St. Mary's right now.

3 days was pretty good for me, I thought 4 might be greedy. Guess I should have!

I am working today... but will find it slow going as I didn't get much sleep last night due to rib problems.

The problem being it's either broken or the cartlidge is severely disturbed.

Wish they sold Panadeine here, I would have slept like a baby. Instead I'll be Mr. Cranky Pants in the office when I get there.

Rib problems...I hear you. I pulled something in my back and it is killing me! You mentioned Panadene..I have seen Panadol...is that the same thing? That is the wife's cure-all...not sure if it will help or not.

On another note...any idea where to get a 10 pin RJ 45 cable, also referred to as a "Siamese cable"?

Panadeine = Panadol + Codeine.

Since Codeine is a banned substance in the UAE, no hope of getting it here.

Never heard of a siamese cable... do you mean a crossover cable?

No, it's not a x-over cable...essentially it is just a 10-pin RJ 45 but who knows where to get that without going shop-to-shop on computer street.

I didn't know codeine was banned here! I guess being an opiate, that makes sense. Not even by prescription?

The cable is for data, audio and video transmission. As per usual, the technician lost it long ago, but needs it TODAY. Isn't that always the way?

It is actually for a Crestron touch-panel for an A/V installation. Do you know where I can get my mitts on one?

Well, there's your problem, you should have gone AMX :)

Shouldn't be too hard to make one..

Have you got the ability? I don't have the cable OR connectors here. Personally whether AMX or Crestron, doesn't matter to me. We seem to flog more Crestron than anything, though.

Well I am in Australia so can't be too much help.. I have sent off an application today, see how we go...

I have only done a few crestron projects, but maybe more than a hundred AMX ones. I am AMX certified in design and installation..

Perhaps Crestron just wants to make you buy a genuine cable. Not that I have had to previously, but I assume any real AV tech should be able to work it out. (no offense intended if you are an AV tech..)

What do you do in the world of pro A/V?
