Hi i'm wondering if anyone can help.

I'm currently considering an offer for employment in Dubai but i am slightly concerned that the fact that i served a driving ban 3 years ago for driving under the influence of alcohol could be a show stopper. I have been back driving for about 18 months now but i know they have very strict rules about who can be employed in the UAE. Can anybody help on this one?

Your’e kidding right? You know how many diss-barred doctors they have found practicing in Dubai over the years??

They don’t do a criminal background check as other countries do when you apply to immigrate; on second thoughts they do, but that is normally to check that you don’t have any affiliations to any banned organisations.

Your employer may ask you if you have a record, and in your circumstances it may be recorded on your drivers licence. If they do ask you, give them a direct answer, in the UAE you can be dismissed if they find out you lied on your application.
