Expat M/F ratio in Dubai? Sep 17, 2006
Hi

Im considering an offer to move to Dubai. But Im single and a bloke and don't necessarily want to go somewhere where there are 10 guys for every girl (Ive lived in places like that).

So whats the M/F ratio for expats? Roughly equal? Or heavily skewed? (23 - 35 age bracket)

Thanks!

Buddy,
You are unfortunately in for a surprise. Your luck follows you to Dubai. The ratio is no better than the places you have been to. Further there are no spots where guys and gals can just socialize. Welcome to the real world.

It depends on what type of women you are looking for?

If you are looking for a "no commitment/cold cash transaction" shag, there are plenty of places i.e. bars/clubs/coffee shops etc, where these types of ladies can be found.

If you take these girls out of the ratio, the number of genuine girls/guys who are really looking for a relationship perhaps triples.

However, on the plus side, if you are gay, then you can "fill ya boots" as you will be like a kid in a sweetie shop hahahahahahahahaha (joke)

Boomtown,

On a serious note, Dubai does have very good nightlife, with lots of girls, it just depends on what you want (as I said earlier). However, you will be in a lot of competition from well tanned and slick back haired guys who drive BMW's with their tops down and huge muscular arms resting on the doors.

The other arm/hand is busy smoothing hair down whilst holding mobile phone to ear. This is going on whilst driving with music so loud it is distorted! hahahahahahahaha

(i am only joking on this, but it is true   )

Prominent, yes. Large... not overrepresented.

The irony is the Lebanese you meet in Australia are nothing like the Lebanese you meet here.

Very true. Well I've never been to Australia but most Lebanese in Aus went there because of the Lebanese Civil War. They struggled to get where they are today.

Whereas a lot of Lebanese in Dubai are just "nouveaux riches" as we put it in French. Of course what I like to stress is that from what I've seen so far it's NOT limited to the Lebanese...

Wannabe Gangstas... for sure, some of them are. The Sydney gang scene seems to have a reprsentation from every ethnic community.

Really though, it's more a result of harsh economic living conditions as opposed to any ethnic mentality.
