Being an american this is a stastic that makes me angry at the US and their foreign policy and very sad at the result of a pointless war. I have no idea if the numbers are correct but the US and British media is always focused on the death of soldiers rather than actual citizens. Very sad indeed.

Would be nice to know the stats on those left maimed civilians and military - on all sides.

The said thing is that those returning to the US from the war, either emotionally devastated and/or physically maimed, are forgotten by the US government. Basically - you served your purpose and are now no longer useful to us.

Back to the subject - has anyone counted how much control over Iraq's oil reserves will yield? I know Halliburton is sitting pretty right now, but I read that Chinese companies were also getting contracts.

Now that the deed is done, you'd have hoped that at least the man-on-the-street's life should have improved noticeably...

The question as to "why", isn't that hard...I mean the Russians were there for the same reason. The strategic advantage of the territory has many points. However, from my point of view we, (the USA) could have accomplished more politically and with treaties then with a violent dispute.
