It was narrated that Hudhaifah bin Asid Al-Ghifari said: "The Prophet (s.a.w) looked out over us when we were talking and said: "What are you talking about?" They said: "We are talking about the Hour.'' He said: "It will never come until you see ten signs.'' He mentioned the Smoke, the Ad-Dajjal, the Beast, the rising of the sun from its place of setting, the descent of 'Eisa bin Mariam, Ya’juj and Ma'juj, and three landslides: one in the east, one in the west and one in the Arabian Peninsula. And the last of that will be a fire which will emerge from Yemen and drive the people to their place of gathering."
I am thinking about us in the UAE and our offsprings. Will we (they) be able to run away from The Fire on time? Will fast transportation be reserved for locals only? Or will there be traffic on the road caused by our cars and we are unable to escape?
Where will everyone go and will we be welcomed everywhere or will people say that their countries are for their people only?
Will there be flying cars taking people from top of the buildings away, or robots to carry their belongings?
How futuristic will our refugee life be?
Will those bachelors escape faster than families with many kids?
Will it be hard to leave villas and luxury flats, penthouses and pools?
Or do we think this is forever? We live our lives hoarding wealth and being proud of numbers of offsprings while forgetting that there will come a time when destinies will change.
What kind of legacy do we leave for our descendants?
Will they be proud of us and our choices we made?
How will people treat them when they lose everything, when they become refugees?
Will their past rich lives matter when they come as refugees to those who didn't receive our help in life?
What legacies are we leaving to our future generations? Buildings, salaries, jobs, luxury and priority treatments.... Or brotherhood, selflessness, support systems, heartful welcomes everywhere they go, understanding, mutual respect and love...
The Fire will eat everything that was once cherished, what will be left as a legacy then?
What are we all without our wealth, status and reputation at home? Is there anything else left for the world to cherish as our legacy?
Brotherhood, mutual support, understanding, sharing, caring???
Or is it too far to think about future generations? Who cares what they will face, let it be good for us now and here. We are enough for ourselves, and offsprings in the future shall think for themselves.
They might send us du3as and prayer or curses...it depends what legacy we leave beyond material legacy.
