Well, you have QD's at the Dubai Creek Golf Club, I cannot remember the overall price but it is an all inclusive package.

Also, a pretty good atmosphere is to go to Madinat Jumeriah and sit at either Left bank or Trader Vics. At midnight you get to see the Burj lit up with all the fireworks!

If you have been reading the forums, then you will have found out that Dhs70,000 is pushing it a bit, but really depends on where you wanna live. Dhs70K will NOT get you a two bed flat, it may get you a bedsit somewhere. Usually they will accept 3 or 4 cheques for the rent. Speak to your Company, th...

Gavin, Like any negotiation, you start off by saying what you want. If you have a family, then you will be wanting a 3 bed villa, if you are married with no kids, then a 2/3 bed apartment will be your minimum consideration. What you will expect depends on what your status is in your contract. If mar...

Re: 2007 CRV - comment pls

Thanks to all those who has been giving me pointers. I have jumped from one model to another and recently I saw the new 2007 CRV. They are resonably priced and the exteriors are tolerable as well. Anyone has one or know about the car. Pros & cons? It's not for off road driving. Any freebies on ...

Which friggin stoopid mindless Department decided that they should install traffic lights on the Arabian Ranches roundabout (Emirates Road)?   What a f00king idiot. Whoever is responsible ought to be made to sit in the teraffic jams it has created day in and day out. Traf...

S&O,

It took me 50mins to get through last night (coming from Abu Dhabi). The minute I came off the roundabout BANG, tailbacks to the AR roundabout. Yes, the queue going back to Dubai on Emirates was horrendous.

Scarlet, Traffic lights don't bother me, but the queues that have now formed as a result of them is stoopid. It now takes me twice the time it normally did. There never any really bad accidnets that i encountered on that roundabout. All went smothly. The cops would stand on the hard shoulder pulling...

thats a good question S&O.

I have heard that it will be called on the 29, some say 30. I just do not think it will be called on the 31, as the sheiks will lose way too much money will no alcohol being served on NYE. I mean, they have a stake in all the hotels.

Ok, lights slow things down, but sometimes that's no bad thing. Take the Wasit roundabout in Big Bad Sharjah ( the one under the flyover to the airport road ). That one used to be a nightmare. Visibility round the sides of the flyover support was so bad that you could sit for ages waiting for a cha...

Think you will be able to shave a fair bit of your Budget from the utilities. My 2 bed apartment only runs me Dhs500 per month, and with other things, all told around Dhs1000.

Also, Dhs2000 may be a bit high for travel, but depends. Too many factors.

It really is about time those in higher powers woke up to the situation and put a hold on hikes in the prices of things, before it gets out of hand. The opposite to that Choc's (and I agree with you), is why should they? The Gov are looking after their own people (sorry sauron, no offence, ok). It ...

We've taken our greedy-a#s landlord to the rent committee. Tonight we find out if we win the case or not. I'll be really surprised if we lose! I would be more surprised to hear if you win. Why? Tenants have been winning the majority of the cases. Five people in my neighbourhood have gone and all ha...

Maybe the government wants to use this as a way of pushing the Western expats out of the country. The companies will find it more economical to employ locals and expats from countries with lower salary levels than in the West. The goal is most likely to have a huge workforce of locals and people fr...

Looking around for my daughter, I'd expect to pay about 3-4 grand a year. My wife was going to come out and work as a nurse too but childcare before and after school was a nightmare (I assume you're both going to work 48 hours a week?), you have to pay a nanny another 3-4 grand a year just for that...

We are thinking the same. Hubby wants to hang on for a third year, but I want to be gone after the next rental contract expires. With me not working and us having to pay rent out of our pockets, it isn't really beneficial for us to live here. I could find work as a teacher for the third year, but f...
