Oh Liban you are a sad little troll aren't you? We educated "westerners", and plenty of educated muslims, don't "despise" you. We pity you, and your childish threats against innocent people. And for god's sake - you come from Lebanon. Have a look at your country's rating in corruption indices compar...

According to news wires this morning the Danish offices of the newspaper were evacuated last night due to a bomb threat - great so now another fantastic image for you to think about! This does nothing to undo the image that many muslims when faced with something they don't like, are violent and agg...

They also contacted my hosting provider and threatened to sue them if they don't close the forums.

Wow! How did you respond?

I seem to remember getting Google text ads for them on my blog a few a months back.

I feel very sorry for the drivers that smell, because the smell very often is unwashed hair. And I think the reason for this is often the extremely long shifts they do - 18 hours in a lot of cases. Most people feel fairly unfresh after 8 hours in an air-conditioned office, imagine 18 in a cramped li...

Best way to see a lot of the Burj for the cheapest amount is to book afternoon tea - Dh180 per person - on a Friday afternoon. You may be able to a la carte it and pay less. On Friday afternoons, they allow people to view Al Muntaha restaurant for free, so you can go up the glass lifts and take pics...

For all except a very lucky few, summer is nearly physically unbearable in Dubai in terms of outdoors physical exertion. However the last couple of years have seen the UAE enjoy much more temperate summers (though still rocketingly hot and humid). You really have to dress for the heat. Loose, pale l...

Yes - a layer of cotton can really help, especially with a really burning sun. When humidity is the major discomfort issue, I find bare arms better, but that's not such an easy choice for men. If you have been in really icy air conditioning for a while, when you step outside, you can actually feel y...

nature_trip - Because not everyone uses deodorant, let alone antiperspirant. It's not because they're "unclean", it's just not part of everyone's culture. Also it is very difficult to smell garlic/booze/spices on yourself (regrettably). People get used to their own smells quite easily, the aroma pr...

It is however ironic that the world's best deodorant, Mitchums (mega strong but bizarrely gentle on sensitive/shaved skin) is about the only international brand not available in the UAE. I found a couple of bottles once at Dubai Airport, but that's pretty much it. I bring it in by the dozen, wheneve...

I haven't been yet, but there is yoga at Fitness First at Ibn Battuta.

They have a range of instructors. They also just introduced Pilates.

I'm trying the yoga class in the next few days possibly.

As I understand it, the main problems can arise when you have a baby here and you either have no marriage certificate, or there isn't a gap of nine months between the marriage and the birth (a lawyer in Gulf News warned about this a while ago). You then face problems registering the child. However, ...

Your cheapest bet is Jebel Ali club - about Dh1,000 for a year's membership, it has a pool, and it's licensed.

You don't really need to live there, just give a fake villa number or Gardens building number, I have a colleague who did this and they never checked up the address.

Re: drugged up

Never had any cold medicine that would not make me drowsy. Is there any? Not pain killers. A friend and I once caught the same flu bug at the office we were both working in. So we bought some of those Day + Night pills. We took the day ones - the correct dose, definitely the day and not the night o...

I can't see it being an issue. The kind of people who will be viewing the site and recruiting you are 99% likely to be expats, and even if they are local muslims, they're likely to have open minds and be less shockable anyway if they are working in design/advertising/media.

Hate to throw a damper but calorie-wise, nearly all smoothies are huge. Even if you make them with low-fat milk/yoghurt, they are very rarely a low-calorie option. That's not to say they're not packed with nutrition, but you have to consider how much fruit you use to make a smoothie (or even a fresh...

Codeine is the only painkiller that works (as panadeine etc), for me anyway. I have never once heard of a drug addict extracting codeine from panadeine-type tablets. I imagine it's easier, safer and cheaper to get it direct from the street. So I wish they'd just allow the damn stuff here. Finest Afg...

Please help - found a budgerigar

We have found a green, very tame budgerigar in the Gardens/Jebel Ali Village area. It was tapping on the window for ages and we were worried it was suffering from the heat so have let it inside, and it's now in a very large cardboard box (plenty of ventilation) with water and some seeds. If you have...

Can't remember her name, but the female gynae at the Dubai London Clinic is wonderful. As are the two general doctors I've seen there (both were male, but there are probably females as well).

It's not the cheapest place, but if you have health insurance you'll be fine.

Duck gyoza

followed

Ginger chicken udon
or
Teriyaki steak soba

finishing with

White chocolate ginger cheesecake

If you go for a salad, get the dressing on the side. It starts off nice, but then gets a bit overwhelming (the dressings are very sweet).

They don't like singles, they don't like flat sharing multiples (whether mixed or single gender) and they don't like cohabiting couples.

Basically the only thing they "like" is man-wife married couples.
