Part Time Work

I am coming to Dubai in mid Feb and hopefully my partner shortly after, she is a fully trained mid-wife supervisor, ideally she would prefer part time as she will be bringing her 13 year old son, I was told that there were no part time jobs in Dubai, how accurate is that statement.

Thanks for the reply and no I wasn't aware that they could not simply come on my visa, the company I am going to work for did not tell me that! That certainly throws a spanner in the works.
Plus she didn't want to come to Dubai to work initially certainly not 45hrs.
Regards
Alex

Just spoke to them and they said they already anticipated the problem and were not sure how to broach the subject till I told them she had a son, they obviously considered the possibility of my partner being male! Hence they tell me they can sort it and will pay the costs. Not sure how didnt ask. Wh...

Those are my thoughts entirely, also don't want to work for ever and wouldn't consider Dubai a place to settle without working, there are a lot better climates for retirement within the EU for retiring, it bugs me though that you pay well over the minimum contributions all through your life whilst w...

advance rent

I understand some or most agents/owners ask for 12 months rent in advance, that is a lot of cash at 1800dhs/month to fork out. Is this generally negotiable? Also is it actually advance rent and then you pay no more for 11 months so you are then 1 month in advance when you start paying again or is 12...

Cost of living

That being the case, the salaries although tax free do not seem to reflect the cost of living, in essence offers seem to be slightly up or same as uk for gross wage in a lot of instances, seems everyone is there for the sunshine, and if your working 46hrs+ you wont see much of that, in fact break th...

my understanding is that they can process both visas at same time if both going to work for them, however if wife coming out on back of husbands visa then she can come out on a visitors visa at same time but the residence visa will follow 21-25 days later

There is a fee involved but this varies, seems a visitor renewal is 500dhs whereas a residence visa is quoted previously as 10000 dhs
