best locations to live close to Dubai Waterfront development

Just wondering what everyone recommends as being the best areas to live in which are close to the area where the Dubai Waterfront development is going to take place? I have been recommended Dubai Marina but this looks like a fairly expensive area so some alternatives would be appreciated. Thanks :)

Well ideally the Gardens, but as mentioned before there is over 7,000 people on the waiting list for that. Check out the greens which is across the highway from the Marina and cheaper. Also Barsha has alot of buildings coming up around the Mall of the Emirates. Good Luck !! So does that mean you go...

p.s. i've just found out that new applicants to the gardens are being asked to fork out 60k for a 2 bedroom, current residents only pay 36k. it would seem that nakheel have also jumped on the bandwagon regarding the supply and demand of cheaper accomodation. well 36K or 60K sounds great compared to...
