Truck bomb plot against Danish publishers Jan 18, 2010
First an attack against one of the Danish cartoonists and now a truck bomb plot against the publishers of the cartoon.

It's also a big shocker for me that one of the suspects in the truck bomb plot is a convert to the most peaceful religion in the world.

But I am sure these terror plots and attacks carried out by Christian fanatics all around the world will end as soon as Israel ends their occupation of Palestinian land.

Details of trucks filled with explosives and European terror networks emerge in JP terror plot case

Terror plot accused planned to use truck bomb to blow up Jyllands-Posten newspaper, according to US Justice Department officials.

US citizen David Coleman Headley and Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a Canadian citizen and native of Pakistan, are already in police custody for their alleged roles in the plot against the newspaper in retribution for its printing of the Mohammed cartoons.

Additional conspiracy charges were recently filed against Ilyas Kashmiri, who has been identified as a leader of terrorist organisation Harakat-ul Jihad Islami (HUJI) in Pakistan, which has connections to al Qaeda, and Abdur Rehman Hashim Syed, also known as Abdur Rehman, a retired major in the Pakistani military. Neither man is in police custody.

According to documents released by US authorities, Headley met Rehman and members of the Lashkar terrorist group in Pakistan. Rehman is said to have introduced Headley to Kashmiri who allegedly came up with the idea of the truck bomb.
Kashmiri is also reported to have put Headley in contact with various associates in a number of European countries ‘who could provide Headley with money, weapons and manpower for the newspaper attack’.

Since the initial details of the plot emerged in October with the arrests of Headley and Rana, the newspaper has tightened security at its Copenhagen and Århus locations.

The newspaper has also hired a head of security in the form of Torben Schiøtt, who has worked with the Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET) for the last 10 years.

He will be responsible for seeing through changes to security systems as well as training staff how to react in the case of a possible terrorist attack.

‘Hopefully the employees will get even more of a sense that we’re taking security seriously when there are people out there who say they want to threaten us. We’re taking action as if it could be a reality,’ said Jens Bruun, group managing director of Jyllands-Posten’s publisher.

Whats sad is that muslims take more offence at a satirical drawing than a man trying to blow up an aeroplane 'in the name of islam'.

what you fail to understand is that the power behind the cartoonist, is the same power for publishing such news against muslims...

Hi Roadtester.

I think you need to understand that insulting the Prophet (pbuh) is punishable by death under Islamic law, as these ahadith make clear:

Book 38, Number 4348:

Narrated Abdullah Ibn Abbas:

A blind man had a slave-mother who used to abuse the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) and disparage him. He forbade her but she did not stop. He rebuked her but she did not give up her habit. One night she began to slander the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) and abuse him. So he took a dagger, placed it on her belly, pressed it, and killed her. A child who came between her legs was smeared with the blood that was there. When the morning came, the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) was informed about it.

He assembled the people and said: I adjure by Allah the man who has done this action and I adjure him by my right to him that he should stand up. Jumping over the necks of the people and trembling the man stood up.

He sat before the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) and said: Apostle of Allah! I am her master; she used to abuse you and disparage you. I forbade her, but she did not stop, and I rebuked her, but she did not abandon her habit. I have two sons like pearls from her, and she was my companion. Last night she began to abuse and disparage you. So I took a dagger, put it on her belly and pressed it till I killed her.

Thereupon the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Oh be witness, no retaliation is payable for her blood.

Book 38, Number 4349:

Narrated Ali ibn AbuTalib:

A Jewess used to abuse the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) and disparage him. A man strangled her till she died. The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) declared that no recompense was payable for her blood.

As you can probably understand, Islam takes any criticism of the Koran (which Muslims believe is uncreated and, therefore, Islam is seen on bordering on polytheism in the eyes of many Jews), Allah and prophet Muhammad very seriously.

That is the reason why the Islamic state of Pakistan recently jailed a Christian Pakistani to life in prison after he was convicted of insulting the Koran and why Muslims in Pakistan and other countries will not hesitate to go all out on religious minorities and fellow Muslims if they have been accused of insulting Muhammad, the Koran or Islam. If you do a simple google search, I am sure you will find many stories from the past four years testifying to the lengths Muslims will go to defending Allah and his prophet - both of which are in need of defending according to the Koran, btw.

I hope you now understand this issue better and will be more sensitive to Muslim sensibilities when they attempt to blow up buildings and kill cartoonists, as these incidents will occur again, and again and again.

Oh, and Islam literally means peace.

Peace to you, Roadtester.

Eh-oh, my brother do you envy islam over the fact that while your rich and developed democracies allow all sorts of humiliation, spread of evil and wickedness, islamic sharia bans it all not only by law in general but on personal level as well.
You see islam also protects one's honour, this is just not applicable on anybody(i.e.UN proclamations) but on every believer. Do you now understand why you get such retaliation from every single believer when you do such silly things as satirical drawing.

Can't you see that Your way of freedom of speach in the west cannot be assosiated and override any qualities that are mandated on every single individual in islam. See..read,judge and compare who and what is more democrat and righteous...

When we speak of human rights in Islam we really mean that these rights have been granted by God; they have not been granted by any king or by any legislative assembly. The rights granted by the kings or the legislative assemblies, can also be withdrawn in the same manner in which they are conferred. The same is the case with the rights accepted and recognized by the dictators. They can confer them when they please and withdraw them when they wish; and they can openly violate them when they like. But since in Islam human rights have been conferred by God, no legislative assembly in the world or any government on earth has the right or authority to make any amendment or change in the rights conferred by God. No one has the right to abrogate them or withdraw them. Nor are they basic human rights which are conferred on paper for the sake of show and exhibition and denied in actual life when the show is over. Nor are they like philosophical concepts which have no sanctions behind them.

The charter and the proclamations and the resolutions of the United Nations cannot be compared with the rights sanctioned by God; because the former are not applicable on anybody while the latter are applicable on every believer. They are a part and parcel of the Islamic Faith. Every Muslim or administrator who claims himself to be Muslim, will have to accept, recognize and enforce them. If they fail to enforce them, and start denying the rights that have been guaranteed by God or make amendments and changes in them, or practically violate them while paying lip service to them, the verdict of the Holy Quran for such government is clear and unequivocal:

"Those who do not judge by what God has sent down are the disbelievers." (5:44)

Human Rights In An Islamic State

The Security Of Life And Property:
In the address which the Prophet delivered on the occasion of the Farewell Hajj, he said: "Your lives and properties are forbidden to one another till you meet your Lord on the Day of Resurrection." The Prophet has also said about the dhimmis (the non-Muslim citizens of the Muslim state): "One who kills a man under covenant (i.e., dhimmi) will not even smell the fragrance of Paradise."

The Protection Of Honor:
The Holy Quran lays down:
"You who believe, do not let one (set of) people make fun of another set."
"Do not defame one another."
"Do not insult by using nicknames."
"Do not backbite or speak ill of one another."
(49:11-12)

Sanctity And Security Of Private Life:
The Quran has laid down the injunction:
"Do not spy on one another." (49:12)
"Do not enter any houses unless you are sure of their occupant's consent." (24:27)

The Security Of Personal Freedom:
Islam has laid down the principle that no citizen can be imprisoned unless his guilt has been proven in an open court. To arrest a man only on the basis of suspicion and to throw him into a prison without proper court proceedings and without providing him a reasonable opportunity to produce his defense is not permissible in Islam.

The Right To Protest Against Tyranny:
Among the rights that Islam has conferred on human beings is the right to protest against government's tyranny. Referring to it the Quran says:
"God does not love evil talk in public unless it is by someone who has been injured thereby." (4:148)
In Islam, as has been argued earlier, all power and authority belong to God, and with man there is only delegated power which becomes a trust; everyone who becomes a recipient of such a power has to stand in awful reverence before his people toward whom and for whose sake he will be called upon to use these powers. This was acknowledged by Hazrat Abu Bakr who said in his very first address: "Cooperate with me when I am right but correct me when I commit error; obey me so long as I follow the commandments of Allah and His Prophet; but turn away from me when I deviate."

Freedom Of Expression:
Islam gives the right of freedom of thought and expression to all citizens of the Islamic state on the condition that it should be used for the propagation of virtue and truth and not for spreading evil and wickedness. The Islamic concept of freedom of expression is much superior to the concept prevalent in the West. Under no circumstances would Islam allow evil and wickedness to be propagated. It also does not give anybody the right to use abusive or offensive language in the name of criticism. It was the practice of the Muslims to enquire from the Holy Prophet whether on a certain matter a divine injunction had been revealed to him. If he said that he had received no divine injunction, the Muslims freely expressed their opinion on the matter.

Freedom Of Association:
Islam has also given people the right to freedom of association and formation of parties or organizations. This right is also subject to certain general rules.

Freedom Of Conscience And Conviction:
Islam has laid down the injunction:
"There should be no coercion in the matter of faith." (2:256)

On the contrary, totalitarian societies totally deprive the individuals of their freedom. Indeed, this undue exaltation of the state authority curiously enough postulates a sort of servitude, of slavishness on the part of man. At one time slavery meant total control of man over man - now that type of slavery has been legally abolished but in its place totalitarian societies impose a similar sort of control over individuals.

Protection Of Religious Sentiments:
Along with the freedom of conviction and freedom of conscience, Islam has given the right to the individual that his religious sentiments will be given due respect and nothing will be said or done which may encroach upon his right.

Protection From Arbitrary Imprisonment:
Islam also recognizes the right of the individual not to be arrested or imprisoned for the offenses of others. The Holy Quran has laid down this principle clearly:
"No bearer of burdens shall be made to bear the burden of another." (35:18)

The Right To Basic Necessities of Life:
Islam has recognized the right of the needy people for help and assistance to be provided to them:
"And in their wealth there is acknowledged right for the needy and the destitute." (51:19)

Equality Before Law:
Islam gives its citizens the right to absolute and complete equality in the eyes of the law.

Rulers Not Above The Law:
A woman belonging to a high and noble family was arrested in connection with theft. The case was brought to the Prophet, and it was recommended that she might be spared the punishment of theft. The Prophet replied: "The nations that lived before you were destroyed by God because they punished the common man for their offenses and let their dignitaries go unpunished for their crimes; I swear by Him Who holds my life in His hand that even if Fatima, the daughter of Muhammad, had committed this crime, I would have amputated her hand."

The Right To Participate In The Affairs Of State:
"And their business is (conducted) through consultation among themselves." (42:38)
The "Shura" or the legislative assembly has no other meaning except that the executive head of the government and the members of the assembly should be elected by free and independent choice of the people.

Lastly, it is to be made clear that Islam tries to achieve the above mentioned human rights and many others not only by providing certain legal safeguards but mainly by inviting mankind to transcend the lower level of animal life to be able to go beyond the mere ties fostered by the kinship of blood, racial superiority, linguistic arrogance, and economic privileges. It invites mankind to move on to a plane of existence where, by reason of his inner excellence, man can realize the ideal of the Brotherhood of man Crimes and punishments have their own long history behind them. From inhuman punishments of the monarchical past to the soft policy of the present-day democratic age, the punishments have been showing an upward trend. This is how the so-called humanizing process has yielded results. The spurt in crimes following the economic boom in the West has brought its own strange interpretation from the Western sociologists, who, till only a few days back were ascribing unsatisfactory economic and social conditions to the increasing criminal mentality. The very sociologist now harps a different tune. He unabashedly calls the criminal mentality an essential element of human nature. This clear succumbing to the situation has come as a result of the West's failure to dam the advancing wave of crimes. More sorrowfully the West has committed the folly of taking a few retrograde steps, so to say, to improve the situation merely on the paper. This has been done in order to cut down the burden on national exchequer; which has been claiming an increasingly bigger slice of the financial cake for the maintenance of Police, Jails, and Courts. This foolish tampering with the situation has been affected mindless of the future repercussions by de-listing a few crimes.

For example, Norway and Sweden have stolen the march by legalizing homosexuality and lesbianism. West Germany and almost all the Scandinavian countries have respectively lifted the ban on import and circulation of pornographic literature. England and Italy have allowed abortions (either for a mother or spinster). The fresh blow to the existing ethical values has come from Spain where, according to an approved bill of cabinet, adultery will no longer be a crime. In sharp contrast to this situation, the Islamic world presents a peaceful and much cleaner society. When we cast a glance at the Muslim countries where Shariah is applied, crime rate has become negligible to the extent that Saudi Arabia reported just one murder in one year. This can wholly be attributed to the deterrent punishments of Islam. Turning a blind eye to these facts, the West is solely guided in its criticism by the superficial understanding of Islamic code.

Primarily, the emphasis of Islamic code is on preventing the crimes by prescribing harsh punishments while contemporary code deals with a criminal individually. The treatment thus meted out does not consider the impact of the crime and its aftermath but simply suggests a punishment to be awarded to criminal.

The detailed study of the Shariah penal system reveals a few more salient features of it which are unique in their character and kind. One can find blessings of the Shariah while glancing through the pages of history. A few basic qualities of Islamic system shows the marked difference from the European legal system.

There are no punishments for blasphemy in Islam - all God says in the Quran is that if people are defaming religion or speaking profanely, one should leave their presence (i.e. walk away) and only rejoin them (to speak/socialise) when they stop. God doesn't say to fight back, insult them back or even to engage in mud slinging or clarifications - just walk away.

"When thou seest men engaged in vain discourse about Our signs, turn away from them unless they turn to a different theme. If Satan ever makes thee forget, then after recollection, sit not thou in the company of those who do wrong. (The Noble Quran, 6:68)"

"Who avoid vain talk; (The Noble Quran, 23:3)"

"And when they hear vain talk, they turn away therefrom and say: 'To us our deeds, and to you yours; peace be to you: we seek not the ignorant.' (The Noble Quran, 28:55)"

And generally, Muslims are instructed to behave decently in public and not even swear:

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr: "The Prophet never used bad language neither a 'Fahish nor a Mutafahish. He used to say 'The best amongst you are those who have the best manners and character.' (Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Virtues and Merits of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his Companions, Volume 4, Book 56, Number 759)"

Noble Verse 13:22 "Those who patiently persevere, seeking the countenance of their Lord; establish regular prayers; spend out of (the gifts) We have bestowed for their sustenance, secretly and openly; and turn off evil with good: for such there is the final attainment of the (Eternal) Home."

Noble Verse 23:96 "Repel evil with that which is best: We are Well-acquainted with the things they say."

Noble Verse 41:34 "Nor can goodness and evil be equal. Repel (evil) with that is better: Then will he between whom and thee was hatred become as it were thy friend and intimate!."

Noble Verse 28:54 "Twice will they be given their reward, for that they have persevered, that they avert evil with good, and that they spend (in charity) out of what We have given them."

Noble Verse 42:40 "The recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto (in degree): but if a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah: for (Allah) Loveth not those who do wrong."

Restrain Anger:

"It is part of the Mercy of Allah that thou dost deal gently with them. Wert thou severe or harsh-hearted, they would have broken away from about thee: so pass over (their faults), and ask for (Allah's) forgiveness for them; and consult them in affairs (of moment). Then, when thou hast taken a decision, put thy trust in Allah. For Allah loves those who put their trust (in Him). (The Noble Quran, 3:159)"

"Those who spend (freely), whether in prosperity, or in adversity; who restrain anger, and pardon (all) men; for Allah loves those who do good. (The Noble Quran, 3:134)"

"Hold to forgiveness; command what is right; but turn away from the ignorant. (The Noble Quran, 7:199)"

No foul language in public!

"Allah loveth not that evil should be noised a broad in public speech, except where injustice hath been done; for Allah is He Who heareth and knoweth all things. (The Noble Quran, 4:148)"

"Say to My servants that they should (only) say those things that are best: for Satan doth sow dissensions among them: for Satan is to man an avowed enemy. (The Noble Quran, 17:53)"

Now, yes, there are indeed some Mullahs who do advocated killing as a punishment for blasphemy and many Islamophobic websites highlight these views. They have to reconcile their views with the clear instructions in the Quran though, we don't have to excuse/condone their views.

I would like to believe you shafique, but as they say actions speak louder than words, the attack on americans because of the danish cartoons sums it up completly.

Harmless words and pictures on a page.

Then you have a suicide bomber on a plane, who i believe is insulting the Quran by using it as justificaction for murdering innocents.

So if the suicide bomber is insulting the Quaran why are none of these sects being attacked, where are the parades on the streets etc? why is it so quiet?

I was just pointing out the reality of what Islam teaches - I wasn't denying that some Muslims don't follow these teachings.

We all have examples of nutters with strange views and those who resort to violence. Baruch Goldstein is one example - we could use him and his supporter's view to condemn Judaism as a brutal religion, or we could recognise that they may not represent Judaism.

We could use Pat Robertson as an example of what Christian fundamentalism leads people to believe (that Haiti's problems are due to them not accepting Christ) - or agree with the media who represent him as a minority opinion. Would we believe media reports that tried to present him as the norm? Probably not - but if it was a Mad Mullah who said this, you betcha that eh-oh would be quoting the Quran and jumping up and down in glee ;)

The Koran is clear: God wants Muslims to use violence against those who 'wage war' against him. Since waging a physical war against God is impossible, the only warfare against him is by words - and Muslims are to execute (by beheading or crucifixion), cross amputate or imprison anyone who 'wages war' against God.

The only reward of those who make war upon Allah and His messenger and strive after corruption in the land will be that they will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land. Such will be their degradation in the world, and in the Hereafter theirs will be an awful doom;

Everyone make sure not to fight against God, ok?
