It is a reality not only in Dubai but throughout the GCC and much of the Arab world. The desert mentality is that househelp are slaves (remember they used to have slave here in thids part of the world). The sad fact is stories like this these are kept in the dark most of the time. Try googling it, one will be appalled with extent of this problem. It's endemic in here really...

Mai murdered by sponsor Dec 27, 2007
An article in Arab News today...

Sponsor Arrested for Murdering Maid in Yanbu
Muhammad Al-Homaid, Arab News

YANBU, 27 December 2007 — Police in Yanbu are currently questioning a Saudi man in connection with the murder of an Asian maid, whose decapitated body was found on the side of a road in Yanbu in September.

The man is said to be the maid’s sponsor and, according to police, had forced the woman into prostitution. Police suspect that the woman escaped and was murdered as a punishment. Her head was then cut off to prevent police from identifying her.

Authorities say the man is vehemently denying any involvement in the murder. The woman’s head has still not been found.

This just shows how big the problem of maid abuse here in the GULF....

His family members treat the society like animals… they steal from foreign businessmen, threaten them, and some times using the famous state security even arrests them to reach their commercial goals.
it s sad that sheikh mohammed’ s brother in law sheikh hasher maktoum has stolen a multi billin dollar bussiness from a foreign investor just because he is related to sheikh mohammed. We have no human rights here, the judiciary is as corrupt as real estate, finance, immigration…. dubai is crashing
