Bringing personal car into UAE by land Apr 26, 2008
I have been offered a job in Sharjah and I am planning to bring my car by land from Qatar. How am I going to do that?

hi

That involves crossing through Saudi which is difficult I think, as there is no visitors visa. Maybe a ferry to western emirates and drive from there?

If I am wrong on the visa issue, please correct me

Cheers

I think you can get a transit visa to cross Saudi by car.

Non Muslims as well? If so, I would be very interested.

I called the Hungarian Saudi Embassy, and they said other than a Business visa, I have no chance to cross the boarder.

I could be wrong. My information is a few years old, but people do drive across Saudi from the UAE so I assume it can be done from other bordering countries. Maybe try calling the Saudi embassy in Qatar?

It also happens that beauracrats to say something can't be done because then you go away and don't bother them anymore.

Thats a really interesting information, because eventually I may be interested in taking my car with me from UAE, in that case driving through Saudi comes into play.

Thanks a lot,
