Bars In Dubai

I understand that most or all bars in Dubai are part of a hotel. Do you have have to be staying in the hotel to drink in the bar?

Technically yes but practically nobody cares.

Liquor license does not allow you to drink in public. Its only to purchase liquor and cosume at home. Its a very easy process, any liquor store will do it for you, costs about 200 Dhms but the store will give you a credit for that amount.

If you mean public bars in hotels, it does according to a court case last year - Brit guy was arrrested for drinking, he produced his liquor licence and court let him off.
