airport money exchange Aug 10, 2007
I'm moving to Dubai from the USA in about a week. Does anyone have some advice about currency exchange. I'll need to change some dollars- but is the aiport a good place to change money? Thanks!

Don't know, but Dubai has a money exchange in every street corner. If the airport rates are too high, just change enough for cab fare and do the rest elsewhere.

the us dollar is fixed against the UAE Dirham so it does not matter where you change dollars you will always get the same rate.

Not really. In finance and banking yes. But not really at money changers. Although the difference may not be much (for small amount), but there is.

From experience, Wall Street exchange (Rolla street or Karama) may give slightly better rate than Al Ghurair/Al Ansari exchange in many malls. Not only USD, but also other popular currencies.

Forget about airport (except few bucks for taxi and first day expenses).
