2. You might want to rent a car if you will be doing it "regularly". Many people commute to Abu Dhabi but I think it is nuts. I suppose there would be a express bus between Dubai and Abu Dhabi but it probably is not worth the hassle. Check RTA website (probablly www.rta.ae )

3. Depends on what "nice" means. If you are without a car then you will most likely be walking in the Bur Dubai side and it is nice to walk along the creek and across the creek - the ar places to eat, stroll, sit, etc. Otherwise you might want to stroll on the beach or go to parks (but you would need a car or taxi ride to and from). Must of the walking in Dubai is done inside malls however.

There is a Dubai-Abu Dhabi bus. It costs Dhs 30 per one-way trip. My buddy uses it but I never asked any other details.
