Black jack/poker???? Apr 02, 2006
Another question from your far-away irish lady....

Is there anywhere one can play black-jack or texas holdem in Dubai...

Not a huge gambler at all but love a game of cards now and again...

Will this be possible when i make the move in a matter of months?????

i heared there is gambleing in Burj al arab, not sure about it.

I know gambeling is not leagal in UAE, but...... Burj al arab is an island.

hehehehe

Like in Israel, they take a boat and go gamble of shore to be outside the rules of Israel that ban gambeling.

Because Burj Al Arab is built on a man made island, there were plans to open a casino there when the hotel was built. Sheikh Maktoum squashed those plans. Now that he has passed away, the person who had the idea for the casino just might get his way.

Liban is quite correct. One of the original plans for the Burj was to have Casino. They originally thought because it was technically "offshore", it would bypass the no gambling rules of the UAE.

Liban is futher correct in saying that when Sheik Maktoum found out about the plan, he stopped it.

Word of warning. I don't know how monitored this foum is, but I would not speak ill of the person who suggested it or even say his name necessarly.... If you have no link to the UAE then speak his name if you know it.

I will not say his name!

Arnie,
you better start checking your rear view mirror more often, be worried starting your car ignition, and check under the driver seat before sitting on it.

Also don't eat food you didn't make with your own hands, don't walk into dark allies and try to keep some company that you know long ago.

try to stay where the crowds are.

Good luck mate, we will miss you

They are joking that this forum might be monitored and anyone speaking ill about the bigwigs who plan casinos or the bigwigs that squash the plans might make them chase after you. No worries :)

Am I correct gentlemen?

Nobody suggested that anyone spoke ill of anyone.

What I was merely saying is that it would be better that nobody mentions the name of the particular person who came up with the casino idea and also that it would be an even better idea not to speak badly of this person in the slightest.

Thats all :)

And yes, if you were to mock this person and you do reside in Dubai, it would not bode well for your health. CID has big ears and powerful arms!!!

I happen to know someone who is friends with that gentleman's personal assistant.

I will not go into more detail because of your childish ways.

Also, its pretty common knowledge WHO was the person wanting the casino so I don't think I am some hot shot for knowing this... Not in the slightest. 8)
