According to Honda UAE website, the Honda All New Civic 2006 offered here is having maximum power of 154 hp @ 6300 rpm for the 1.8L engine.

However, I have been checking a few Honda websites in other countries, and noticed that the engine All New Civic 2006 1.8L is having only 140 hp @ 6300 rpm.

Does anyone know whether they deliver more powerful engine for UAE? The sales persons could not even tell what the engine model is, but since he said that the car is imported directly from Japan then I assumed it is an R18A engine, which is only 140 hp / 6300 rpm.

Did I miss anything?

yes its got same hp as rest of world. only thing other parts of the world they stick to the net HP ratings, whereas UAE uses some other HP rating.

Also, in other countries they have far stricter emission controls, therefore, with stricter emission controls, the output will be lower, hence lower bhp figures.

I have the same with the accord. In the USA it is 244bgp but in uAE it is 275bhp.

Just take it as 140 hp.
