Signing a job offer and then declining it- URGENT! Jun 19, 2012
Hi All

I'm in a bit of a pickle and I could really use some help here. I got a job offer a couple of days ago from a prestigious oil company for a field based role (you practically live on the rig for weeks and then get a couple off). Anyhow, I was really excited upon receiving this offer and signed with the company right away.

After informing my current employer regarding my decision to resign, my dept. head is giving me a counter offer which is now making me reconsider. I don't know if it is a case of cold feet or something but after hearing from engineers who are currently based in the field I am freaking out and reconsidering the offer I have signed already. I currently have a pretty chilled out, standard 9-5 job and the pay is decent enough. With a counter offer it seems like an even better deal.

Would there be any legal implications if I now decide to decline the offer I've already signed? Is there anyway around it? Can anyone with similar experience give me some tips please??

There is no problem since you havent joined there. Just inform the company.
