Nurse Registration-Dohms

Nurse registration-Dohms Jun 05, 2010
Hello,
I signed a contract as a nurse in Dubai after being on parental leave for 4 years. Now DOHMS requests a certificate for "recent practice as a Registered Nurse of at least 450 hrs in last 3 years (exemption New Graduates)"
Although I have more than 10 years of professional experience, I don't see any chance to provide the above requested.
    1) What happens in this case?
    2) Can I start working in Dubai and list the time here as working experience? I have heard that usually nurses start working and then do the DOHMS test a couple of months later.

Thank you for help.

I think you have the following choices (not in any particular order).

1. Ask DOHMS for an exemption.
2. Ask DOHMS what to do.
3. Ask employer what to do.
4. Supply certificate for period prior to leave and leave it up to DOHMS to ask if they're not happy about it, or maybe they won't notice / won't care.
5. Supply certificate for period prior to leave along with letter explaining you were on parental leave, and hope DOHMS accept it.

Sorry, I don't know enough about nursing in Dubai to suggest which is the best option.
