Hi, I'll be arriving in Dubai shortly and would like to purchase a couple of things straight away, a TomTom sat nav and a Canon SLR camera.

My question is where is the best place to buy these kind of items? Where will I find the best prices? Would it be in the Mall of the Emirates or would I find better prices in a smaller shop somewhere else?

Are there any price comparison websites that are dedicated to the UAE?

DNCUK ,i buy my stuff from ebay , Dubai usually have the leftovers from USA.
Even then everything here is over priced over 40%

Hi Bossman, that's a shame, I was under the impression that Dubai would be cheap for electronic gadgets (compared to UK). In fact I've put off buying my new camera until I arrive in Dubai.

Feel a bit disappointed now!

I bought my car , laptop , sunglasses and even my pen from ebay USA.

Price of car - Dhs 100,000 in USA delivered to UAE , in UAE same car Dhs 185,000/-

Price of laptop - Dhs 4800/- in USA delivered to UAE , in UAE same laptop Dhs 8,200/-

Sunglasses i got were not available in UAE , as these are used in US military for fighter pilots

The pen i got was for NASA people which can write in zero gravity and under water.

Bossman...if you're buying goods from Ebay and having them shipped to Dubai, do you ever have any problems receiving the items, any problems with customs?

DNCUK , not at all. sometimes you pay about 5% of the invoive. but you can always ask the seller to underinvoice or claim as gift

but my advice get it DHL with tracking and insurance if its expensive item.

also since you are paying with a Credit card , if items doesnt arrive you can apply for a charge back from your bank . Paypal also covers you well.

eBay or Amazon is the best place. They now have very low delivery chargers starting at 5 USD to the UAE. Some delas you can gte it for free shipping.
