Seems everyone is looking for what to do, where to go, etc.

How about a big desert party at night. Rent an huge tent somewhere find a spot, bring food and drink, etc. After all isn't the desert one of the truly local places. One bar/restaurant , two bar/restaurant, three bar/restaurant same here as in Mongolia....

Just a thought. I leave the logistics to others...

wouldnt mind if we throw in some action, sandboarding and dune buggys

Isn't it still a bit warm for that, maybe later down in the year would be good.

Isn't it still a bit warm for that, maybe later down in the year would be good.

my friends and i go a lot, its not too bad since its at night....but thats my opinion

Like I said in the original post someone else has to take the "bull by the horns" and organize it if there is enough interest. Someone mentioned November as a good time.

So any volunteers for the organizing?

I'll step up and volunteer, I think this would be awesome and November would be a great time to go.

If we are going out in the desert...don't ask me to drive! Unwittingly did a shed load of damage to a mates 4x4 on friday, despite literally hundreds of hours of desert driving experience on 3 continents!

Sometimes it just goes wrong and in this case a little ridge at the bottom of a big dune just caught us out!

On the same trip another mate managed to jump his Jeep over 20 metres on a flat section of sand...lots of bruises and swearing but no broken vehicle!

No worries DK. We will all be riding camels from the highway shoulder to the oasis. How's the planing going? Bueller?... Anyone?...

Only been once on a desert thingy…. Went back weighting 3 kgs extra, from the sand I gathered.

What we need is Cargirl to organise a fleet of demo Hummer H3's...we can then hitch a small caravan to the back of each one and look like a bunch of pikeys! (British expression that will need translating!)
