Buryani is certainly not local. I wasn't aware that there was any actual local dishes to the UAE, it all seems a mish mash of things from other places.

Alot of the local food is heavily influenced by Indo/Pak food.

Harees is my favorite, however i only get to eat it in Ramadan.

its BIRYANI...and the origins of it at least in india...can be found in hydrabad and luckhnow....hydrabadi biryani is really famous...and is cooked in an earthen pot which is immersed in a charcoal filled hole...this process brings out the flavors even more...yumm!!...dang i am hungry!!

Doh - I was having a duffers moment then went to bed. Don't know why I misplet Biryani it's one of my favourite things, and yes I know it's Indian food.

Ysh, that's exactly my point not sure there is any what I'd call authentic local food as it's all influenced from other places.

It involes yellow rice, meat, chicken, dry raisins, tomatoes, etc... All mixed together. Its so heavy yet so good.

Top it off with good ol'Yemeni bread... YUM YUM :)

There are a couple of places that do good Mandy here. One in Deira on Maktoum. Dunno the name. Just ask some locals, Mandy... its to die for... :)
