You can’t get away from all the buzz about the upcoming Royal Wedding these days. I’m already getting very sick of reading and hearing about it!!

I’ve heard some people in America will be staying up all night to watch the wedding. Poor souls!

Although I’m watching none of it whatsoever (except for what might come up in TV news bulletins), I was surprised to learn that a lot of people I know will be watching it all!!

What about you???

No way! I purposely booked my return flights to coincide with the big day.
Having said that I do wish them well and hope that the great unwashed don't manage to spoil the day by their pathetic demos.
I watched the wedding of Charles and Diana and had to laugh when she called Charles, Philip during the vows.
I can't stand Prince Charles.
William used to a nice looking boy but he is getting more like the Windsors as he gets older. poor sod. I like Harry, there is no danger of him looking like the Windsors as his dad is a Hewitt :D

Probably just catch the highlights to be honest, more likely to be hitting the water and doing something productive with my Friday. Brits love stuff like this, it brings a sense of unity and togetherness and of course the Yanks love anything Brit and Royal!

All day! I will be watching it live from 09:00 on SKY News in it’s full High Definition Glory, from the musical rides of the Household Cavalry, the synchronised performances of the Massed Bands troop, the ceremonial carriages which have carried generations of Royals before the happy couple, the Irish foot Guards on protection duties, the magnificent Westminster Abbey, you can’t buy any of this, this isn’t created, it has evolved over hundreds of Years. I shall also be playing Sir Edward Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance Military Marches, the Hymn Jerusalem and Rule Britannia in a continuous loop as background music, and hanging red, white and blue bunting with Union Jack Flags on my balcony, just to annoy my neighbours!

The Marriage? maybe William will eventually be King and Catherine his consort, who knows? I hope they are both happy together whatever the outcome, but for me? the day is more than a marriage, far, far more.

I'm going to sit with a mixed nationality group of friends from my condo and watch it after we all get the kids to bed. Any excuse to get together for drinks and nibbles is fine with us!

Of course we do wish the royal couple all the best too! :)

Probably catch the highlights or watch it in bits and pieces. It's definitely gonna be a beautiful and romantic ceremony. Besides how surreal is it? A wedding with full state honors? Simply out of this world. Kudos to the Brits for keeping alive certain traditions which fill even those totally unrelated to it with nostalgia.

er no BM, she's known as Kate but her full name is Catherine - with a C! Katherine with a K is the 'common' version that's only appeared in recent years.

Well to be honest, I did have to check up on that one, and surprisingly there is a lot of misinformation out there, because she has chosen to call herself Kate, a lot of people have assumed her given name to be Katherine including some news wires! Whereas her name, in fact is Catherine. Confusing? Not as confusing as her future brother-in-law Prince Harry, who’s real name is Henry!

Originally, from the Greek Katharos, the name evolved into Latin by the 3rd Century AD to the two alternatives Katerina and Caterina and further into the spellings we know them as today. Katherine was first recorded in England in 1196, having been brought back from the Crusades in reference to St Catherine of Alexandria, so not so new, and not so 'common'

I think its a total waste of time and a great turn-off!
As for "tradition", go far enough back into the history of mankind and what do you get?
Better to look ahead. Tradition belongs in a museum. 8)

Well Zonker, I have to admit that I had it on TV and stopped to watch the highlights.

I think they are an adorable couple. They, along with Harry, were so relaxed and casual. Little private conversations passing between them. It was interesting to watch them as a couple because they are the future of the UK and will probably bring about quite a bit of change when their time comes.

Apparently the Queen is quite taken with Kate as she had loan Kate a tiara that has been in the family for some time.

Other observations: Camilla, fat ugly cow!! Waving at the crowd as if she was someone. Based on the response from the crowd they couldn't care less that she showed up!!! I guess she forgot that it was Diana's son that was getting married - not hers. I think so many people were thinking about Diana.

Fergie's daughters Beatrice and Eugenia: woof woof!!! looked absolutely cheap and hidieous

Most of the ladies attending were dressed quite lovely (I said most!!!) and the men cut a fine figure in their uniforms and dress.

All the pomp that went on with the escorts, horses, carriages, was really nice to watch.

Well said Dillon.

I had the kilt on, the ladies had the hats on, we drank champers, we drank G+T we had a great time, and this was great for Britain.

Only w@nkers and simple minded tossers like Zonker would say otherwise.

He-he I also had the same feeling watching TV from distance. Looking closer I found that this old-timer was the last British home-made limo. The vehicle looks as dilapidated as monarchy itself. So they match each other pretty well as the reminder about bygone greatness.

What’s this RC? not more sour grapes over losing your own Royal Family to the murdering Bolsheviks after their autocratic rule brought Imperial Russia to near collapse in the early 1900’s, we don’t do autocratic RC, our royals behave themselves, politically that is.

Well, to be able to use the Taxi Lanes of course, miss all the traffic and get the bride to the church on time!

I thought it was nicely done actually. All the young royals showed exactly why they've captured peoples hearts, in that they're so down to earth and 'normal' and not stuffy like the older generations - that's why Diana was so popular and become the people's princess. Harry decorating Charles old Aston Martin in ballons and L plates was hilarious.

For those of you that say 'bah humbug' so do 2 BILLION people across the globe watch your royal celebrations? Not on your life. It's nice for once to have something that united people and made them forget about all the bad new for a little while.

That's why various members of the UAE royal family were fairly prominently seated near the front at Westminster Abbey.

If it had been done here, I assume you would have had a massed chorus of wailing, hair swinging women, a bunch of guys swinging Charlie Chaplin canes, and the bride arrive in a diamond encrusted Cadillac Escalade?

Yeah.

Tasteful!
