Yeah got some things lined up, either here or back home so it's not too bad. It says I was made redundant and not fired for gross incompetence or workplace indecency so that is a positive

Thanks guys. It's not really that bad. I'm not in debt so I don't have to do an airport run or anything, plus it's just me here so I'm not pulling kids out of school etc.

There might be another opportunity here for me (one is maybe lined up), but if I have to head home I can't say I'll be too disappointed. I've had a great/interesting/challenging time here but I always intended to head home at some point. Just might come a little earlier than expected.

Plus, now that they have banned pork there is not much point in staying anyway, right?

Sorry I missed this thread first time around....it's bad luck. I know a guy who was made redundant about 4 months ago, looked for work everywhere, was even ready to go to Abu Dhabi or head home. He just landed something 2 days ago, construction manager type job so openings still exist, and now is glad he stuck it out rather than heading home, but he was tempted to.

Hope you got your basic living expenses covered for a while.

Well said, they say that fortune favours the brave. It's good that you stuck around and didn't panic. Another guy I know did the same and was finally rewarded after a few months' waiting.
