No villas in palm or marina for under AED3M

Sorry to disappoint you - There are only a few townhouses around the Emaar built part of the Marina (and very expensive if you can find someone to sell you one). As for the palm, Garden Villas are around 5-6M at the moment with signature villas at 10-17M. If you really want to live in one of these a...

Villas in Springs and Arabian Ranches

Townhouses in both these developments are going through the stratosphere pricewise and despite any common sense, continue to rise. In short, get married...

While a fair few people 'live in sin' in Dubai, being an unmarried mother is another issue entirely. While it maybe that the schools have not responded for another reason, it could well be for that fact. If you really are insistent in coming to work in Dubai - bite the bullet and get married first.

International City?

By the way Sports City isnt built yet!! Apartments are likely to be ready by end of 2008. International City isn't going to be the classiest place to live, and that is being polite. I know of several buyers that have bought apartments there for use as 'staff accommodation' - several lowly paid peopl...

Israeli stamp in passport

You will be fine in Dubai ... i know people who have entered not only with a stamp but with a full page visa stamped on the passport. However dont even think about entering Saudi, Syria, or Lebanon Wow, I am sure I have read several articles that say a person is refused entry with an Israeli stamp.

Hi, There are over 30 primary schools in Dubai that carry the 'British' stream. Fees are generally between AED30-60k per year at primary level. A big warning as due to the boom in Dubai, most schools are full with waiting lists AND most have a priority for British Passport holders. While most of the...

OK...

Firstly, drink a bottle of spirits (minimum 40% proof)

Next heat your clothes iron to max.

Next call for an ambulance, as you will need it in 5 minutes.

Finally, apply hot iron to affected area until you can smell your skin getting crispy.

Good luck

By 2009 Salik is likely to be a feature of most main highways in Dubai.
I would have assumed that most people would realise that the first 2 stations were a 'trial' before it was rolled out through the rest of Dubai.

By the way, in the Uk, RTA stands for Road Traffic Accident.
An apt name?

Just to add my 10 pence worth... My first trip to Dubai in 2005 with my (now wife) was to the very same Jumeirah Rotana. No problems there, just make sure your 'wife' dresses conservatively if you fancy a walk outside at night, as the surrounding area of Satwa is mainly of staring male workers (noth...

Just to clarify. Most UK contraceptive pils are available (and very cheap!) in pharmacies in Dubai, so you can continue your original prescription with the same tablets rather than be picking up 'any old pil'. Sharjah living will mean 4 hours of traffic gridlock every day in rush hour traffic, so not recommended if you can help it.

Mirdiff is currently the choice for people seeking value for money and a 'reasonable' (for Dubai anyway) journey to work.
