Accomodation Question

***Newbie Alert*** OK so I now know that Greens and Dubai Marina (probably the whole Barsha area) are out of my price bracket (i.e. over 60K for a studio). Below are the facts and I would really appreciate all the help you can give me: a) I will be working in the API World Tower on Sheik Zayed Road ...

RE:

Hello O, you can try this website to find a rental Bachelor apartment. http://www.dubaipropertymatch.com At the moment they have only three listings for bachelor studios, one in Marina for 75,000 (fully furnished) and two in International City, one for only 36,000 (unfurnished) and the other for 65...

Sorry O, but the rent prices are out of control at the moment. If you have difficulties finding a place close to your work that is within your budget, you should really pressure the company to increase your housing allowance. Just keep checking the newspapers and websites and post your own ad. You ...

Omar, You could also try Bur Dubai area and/or Satwa I think a studio there would be cheaper than the Greens or Marina. However the problem is finding something available so keep your eye open for a place in those areas. Also sometimes you will find studios in Jumeirah/Um Suqieum .. those are close...

International city is a new development and its a bit out there, search the forum there is another thread with a map of where it is and other people's opinions on the international city. Um Suquiem is just an extension of Jumeirah along the beach its a bit further away from SZR closer to burj al ar...

RE:

In your own name, yes. If your apartment is in your companies name, they can apply for everything on your behalf if they're willing to. Else, DSL, phone line, license, car...pretty much anything...requires you to have a residence visa. Good luck! Thank you very much for the reply. What happens is t...

Car Pooling Mirdif

I live in Uptown Mirdif, work (9:00) on Zayed Rd (API World Tower), drive a reliable Ford Focus and was wondering about any car pooling possibilities.

Any takers?

Honda Jazz

I really like the new Honda Jazz (also dubbed Fit in other parts of the world). What do you guys think of it in terms of Re-sale Value (becuase I return to Egypt mid 08 and I can't have a car that I can't sell and re-pay the bank and leasing with Avis, Hetrz or anyone else is just too expensive) Als...

RE

I try to be accurate, but the dealers keep shifting prices around constantly. The listed prices on DriveArabia will give you a better indication than anywhere else though. You can use them as a rough guide. Many thanks for the reply! Your website is great btw (I know there will be always some varia...

I forgot to add that there are some great deals on the Ford Focus at the moment Good bang for the buck Many thanks Keith! I honestly prefer smaller cars (unless Re-sale is truly bad). The Yaris is very appealing but I am afraid the 1.3 L will give out in the summer with the AC on full blast (am I m...

Can't say much about resale value. On one hand, it is a Honda, but on the other, it is a hatchback (which are unloved here). Some sort of 4-door sedan (like Civic) has better resale, but all in all, I'd say resale would be only slightly lower if you go with the Jazz. Thanks for the feedback. I was ...

Cool Pads for Laptops

Guys, what's the best cool pad for my 12.1 wide Lenovo (the aim is to use it on my lap, other surfaces I have no problem with)? I feel the ones with fans, USB wiring and such are just a tad too much, what do you think? Also, where can I get it (tried Jumbo and Compu Me) becuase Amazon say they can't...

Yes, somewhat of a cultural thing. Nobody buys station wagons either but jump at the chance to buy a 4WD wagon. Hatches also appear somewhat girly. I find that many of them look like half a real car. gtmash, Since you're here :) I cannot believe the 1.8L TC Octavia is for under 70K; what's the catc...

AC

Is it true that the Japanese car air conditioners out perform any other make? not all....particular models from all makes have good ac. Jeep is amercian...cherokee has amazing ac. That makes sense; I cannot imagine any high end car having bad AC, plus there is such a thing as customizing a certain model for a certain market (Middle East). Anyone here rode a C4 in August and ...

Hmmm, I can't give you a general comment... But on my Mitsubishi (Evo IX), the air-con could probably give you frost-bite... Also I have heard the same statement about most Mitsu-Cars and many other japanese cars... Still, I don't think it's worth choosing your car mainly based on ac... What ...

Dry Cleaners/Laundromat in Mirdif

Anyone know of a place that offers ironing services at a reasonable price in the Mirdif area?

Butler's are simply ridiculous at AED5 per shirt (just ironing). Your input is much appreciated.
