My opinion for what it's worth...

I have to agree with Liban on and am am quite surprised at salaries that are sometimes expected on these forums . Don't forget that Dubai is rapidly changing and so is the job market . The offer/demand in terms of opportunities is having a serious effect on packages on offer unless you are in a prof...

I am not disagreeing with you on that indmetic at all. What I wrote was what I percieve as the reason why such expectations are out there. I totally agree that that shouldn't be a reason to be paid more as an expat. I think I did state what should and shouldn't be a reason for salary differences in ...

I flew with Emirate once for the 1st and last time from London . It was a HUGE disappointment , even thinking about it make me feel achy... I guess I fell in the trap of 'Oh they're the best in the world blalala' . No bloody way : it was the worst service I can remember. This is just one of them : I...

I am surprised RAK got good feedback form some of you guys. My experience with them was a bit of a disaster, they really did waste a lot of my valuable time. Also because of their not so knowlegeable staff we ended up opening wrong type of accounts for what we needed to achieve. I actually was one o...

Laydee, You will need to do the test here as your driving license is unfortunately not valid in the UAE. You'll need to take your home driving license with you to a local driving school , that way you will be exempt from the parking exam and you'll only need to go for some classes not the whole 20 I...

New ppty law - why register ppty now?

Folks, I hope someone here is less confused than I am and can shed some light on the property registration part of the new law. I was told that will basically be charged a hefty 1.25 % of the property price for the privilege of stamping our name on it with the Dubai land registry dept ?!! My point i...

Thank you all for your input. I think I was prepared to take the risk of fees going up if that's the only risk there is. I guess I'll just have to take it and hang on to my cash at this stage. After all I am only doing the land registery dept a favour as they must be working day and night at the mom...

oops that sounds quite unfair to me . I'd be really pissed off if I pay the fees now and they come down in the future . I think the effect would be much worst than seeing them go up in the future. Anyway, it makes me more hopeful though .
Thanks gtmash

At least they make compulsory to get a license here. I was told that half the population in Ireland drives without a license !!! can you believe ? But again they probably don't have half the accidents we have here which just shows that it's definitely a license to kill (not to drive) that you get he...

I haven't checked the site but I can tell you that $100K is not that unusual in Dubai for senior positions in HR if you're a very experienced HR Mgr (preferably with major multinational companies in the west). In fact they could get much more than that just try and convert Aed 45K monthly into dolla...

Top 10 / 100 or even 1000 companies not to work for

I think you can drive with any license for the first 12 months then you must take theory and pactical tests. That applies to all EU countries as far as I know.

I think the Marina and even JBR are still good investments, watch the quality though some of them can be on the low side . I personally don't like the look of the JBR towers but I can see it become lively in the future. I also think somewhere near a metro station like the JLTs wouldn't be a bad idea...
