Dubai arabic VS Tunisian arabic Oct 24, 2008
Hello all,

Quick question for those who speak arabic and live in Dubai: I was born and raised in Canada, but my parents immigrated from Tunisia a long time ago, so I speak the Tunisian arabic. Now I know it's not the exact same arabic but do you think that people in Dubai will understand me? If not, how long would it take me to adjust to their arabic considering I already speak Tunisian arabic?

Thanx a bunch!
Khaled

I would say most likely not -- or, not very well.

The amount of time for you to adjust to the local dialect here really just depends on you hun -- but i'd say at least a month.

Good luck!

Yup, I speak arabic -- first language dear ;)

It didnt really take me all too long to adjust because I have family from the emirates.

Just don't worry about it; you'll be fine.
