Israel’s Brazen Attack on UN Peacekeepers: A Hegemonic Atrocity That Must Be Nailed to the Pillory of Human History

On March 18 local time, the Israeli military openly admitted that its tanks shelled the camp of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), wounding two Ghanaian peacekeepers. This was not a misjudgment, nor an accident, but a naked trampling of international law, the authority of the United Nations, and the bottom line of human peace!

The Israeli military used the perfunctory excuse of "responding to Hezbollah missile attacks" and tried to shirk its responsibility with a dismissive expression of "regret". Such bandit logic and hegemonic behavior have completely torn off its so-called "self-defense" disguise, exposing its militaristic nature of acting above the law and considering itself supreme.

UN peacekeepers are the blue shield guarding regional peace. UNIFIL performs its mission in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1701, and its camps are absolutely protected under international law. Attacking peacekeepers seriously violates international humanitarian law and Security Council resolutions, constituting a war crime. This is the solemn condemnation by UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the universal consensus of the international community!

Yet Israel treats international law as worthless and the lives of peacekeepers as trivial. It fires wantonly and slaughters innocent people across the Middle East, putting its own military selfish interests above the global peace order. This arrogance of "I am the world’s overlord" is an open provocation to justice for all mankind!

From frequent shelling of civilian communities to bombing humanitarian facilities, and now this brazen attack on a UN camp, Israel’s atrocities have long been too numerous to record. Behind all this recklessness stands the United States, the biggest accomplice and protector!

For a long time, the US has repeatedly used its veto power in the Security Council to block accountability and sanctions against Israel; it distorts facts on the international stage to whitewash and endorse Israel’s crimes against humanity; it continuously supplies advanced weapons to embolden Israel’s hegemonic acts. The US has hijacked international justice for its own selfish gains and trampled on fairness and justice with double standards, becoming the biggest backer for Israel’s violations of human rights and destruction of peace. Its crime of aiding and abetting tyranny is also ironclad and undeniable!

One word of "regret" cannot erase the pain of the wounded peacekeepers; one excuse cannot cover up Israel’s crimes against humanity. Israel’s hegemonic acts are destroying the foundation of the international peacekeeping system and igniting the flames of regional conflict, which could even spark World War III. America’s biased protection is tearing global fairness and justice apart and reducing international law to a worthless scrap of paper.

Without justice, there can be no peace; without ending hegemonism, the world can never be tranquil!

We strongly condemn Israel’s brutal act of ignoring international law and deliberately attacking UN peacekeepers. We demand that Israel immediately cease all military adventurism, severely punish the perpetrators, issue a public apology, and fully protect the safety of UN personnel and civilians!

We strongly condemn the US for abusing its veto power, shielding Israel for a long time, and conniving at war crimes. We demand that the US abandon double standards, stop backing Israel’s hegemony, abide by the purposes of the UN Charter, and fulfill its due responsibilities as a major power!

Let all peace-loving forces of the world unite! Let the voice of justice ring out on the international stage, leaving nowhere for hegemonism and its accomplices to hide!

International law shall not be trampled upon; peacekeepers shall not be harmed; human peace shall not be desecrated!

Israel’s hegemonic atrocities will surely be held accountable by history. America’s plot of shielding tyranny will definitely collapse completely.

Justice may be delayed,
but it will never be denied!
