Exactly, about BURKINI in France. I am thinking how one private decision in remoted French village concerns to DUBAI FORUM or Milsims at all.
It doen't happen in Dubai or UAE. It isn't the law that was launch by French parlament.
Why all this storm in the tea-cup?

About Sharjah you were lucky. That's it. I saw personaly how security asked mum of three to leave Sahara Mall in front of her kids because of her skirt didn't cover her knee only.
There are a lot of as weird as described decision in Sharjah beach hotels but nobody writes about them in the World media.

If you know where you live why don't you think that people in France should respect some tradition of this beatiful country?

I think there are bigger problems in the world then a shopping mall in Sarjah, where women have to cover up their knees...lol

will say this one more time: YOU ARE IN A MUSLIM COUNTRY ! The women need to cover up their pretty knees and bosems for their own good, thats if they want to stay out of trouble in the shopping malls or where ever. In every shopping mall they have this signs with pictures that you have to cover up so i really don't understand why women still try to go shopping in mini skirts. :?: :!:

er no that was not a wise thing to say! 'Women need to cover up for THEIR OWN GOOD!' - WHOA wait a minute, you're exactly the kind of person with the attitude that I really don't like! You make it sound as if it's the womans fault! Maybe OTHER people (men I should say) need to learn some self control. Instead of pointing the finger at women, maybe you should look at how the other gender are not emotional control and how they cause problems.

Well Choco, tell me why do women wear provocative clothes?? Just to look good??
No honey, majority of women who dress like that want to grab men’s attention. They want to look $exy, the way they dress screams: “Hey hey men I’m almost naked, look at me please notice my presence”
So you just can’t accuse men of lacking self control. You simply can’t leave your jewelry on the road and expect people to have self control and not think of looking at and stealing them.
A woman can dress in a very decent way and still look gorgeous without having to show a lot of skin.
A woman who respects herself and perceives herself as a woman and not a $ex object will dress decently and won’t make a show out of her body.

So how come, when men show a lot of skin, women are able to control themselves? You make it sound its all the womans fault. Like this sheikh in Australia, right...

Have you ever thought maybe its not just the other gender. Most women even non muslims comming from conservative cultures or background might be embarassed or feel uncomfortable with this ?

I know for a fact that an American family living in Al Ain for quite sometime and whenever then visit a place like MOE in dubai are quite shocked and always say they walk around with there eyes planted to the floor most of the time.

I'm quite liberal and grew up in this place and worked with europeans most of my working life and bikinis on the beach or even people screwing in the desert does not bother me. But when you just go to relax and all you is see is fcuk fest 2009 all around you. I must admit even I feel a bit uncomfortable.

Although majority of the women even in their short skirts or sleeveless tank tops are ok, but there is alway this hand full bunch who just seams to be really testing the limits.

This never happened a few years back even when there was a big western expats community here, on have witnessed this phenomena recently and probally thats why I think some rules and regulations have been put, before it goes too far and you'll see women in bikinis and thongs walking around the city.

P.S : As always, its usually not the western i.e Europeans and Americans doing this. Its those overly "westernised" Arab/Iranian females i.e Labanese ( now pretending to be canandians ) Too much wannabes going around and pushing their so called new found freedoms.

Both women and men should dress decently. A man who shows a lot of skin is sick and hallow inside. He has nothing but the muscles he tries to seduce women with.

OMG - you have some serious issues dude. I don't disagree that there is a time and a palce for everything. However, to point the finger and say it's a womans fault for dressing a certain way is stupid. How about some women dress a certain way 'for themselves!!!!', to make themselves feel good? No don't suppose you would, would you.

I think you ned to get out more.

Well I'm gonna take your advice and try to feel good about myself by walking nude in MOE. You can catch the early show.

Ofcourse. People do including myself do dress up for themselves and ofcouse thant makes you feel special walking around looking all sharp and snazzy. But you can easily make out such behaviour.

Even the guys like said before walking around wearing 2 sizes smaller spandex sleeveless T-shirts looking all trashy are walking around like a worm on a hook waiting for a fish to bite are idiots.

Same with the women, You can easily make out women who are dressed even in a not so conservative manner dressed to kill.

But I don't see how a girl just barely out of her teens wearing a bra less tube top a little wider than a rubber band with boobys ready to pop out at the silghtest hint of a breeze and a kitchen towel for a skirt. With 6 inches on gawdy makeup would be dressing up for "herself".

Come on now. Its these few that have forced people into taking action. Although no one likes to be told what do to. But some people just push the limits a little too much and if not put in check only gods know where it will stop.

A little diffrence of culture somes into play here. I remember we had a bunch Tourist from Uruguay that we were showing around Deira City Center. And this was loooong before. And this one dude just took off his T-shirt and started to walk around without anything on except his bermudas !

And when told he couldn't do that here. He just couldn't understand it and took quite sometime to explain to him that he just can't becuase it is not considered appropriate here. He did comply but obviously still understand why !

Same case a friend told me who was working at Shj Airport at the time. A east european woman landed wearing a loosly knit jumpers with nothing underneath and according to my friend not much was being left to ones imagination. When told she would have to cover up before she could leave immigration. She made a big noise about what I can do and wear whatever ever I want. Security was brought in her boyfriend got involved who was also traveling with her and let some physical altercations with the security and the Boyfriend. End story both were lucky and sent back on the next flight.

So all in all. People do have to be considerate on how they behave according to where they are. I can't go around looking like a Nazi wearing a T-shirt death to all jews and Israel anywhere in Europe and the US without suffering somekind of consequences.

As for the Burkini issue. Every place has its rules and they should be followed. No where in Islam does it sayits a must that you have to go to a public swimming pool to swim and its a failed design anyways.

If the person loves to swim so much. Maybe get a few ladies toghter maybe someone has a private pool at the house and organise a ladies day out. Or try to hire a private swimming pool somewhere. There are so many things that can be done.

I'm out

Again you guys totally missed the point! You took something I said and went from 0 to 100 in no time. Take a step back already. I have already said that I disagree with what many people wear, I have made that perfectly clear. And that there are times and places for wearing certain things and not others. Again I have made this absolutely clear. Stop reading between the lines.

What I to totally disagree with is people saying that 'It's a womans fault'. You say things like that and you get into the realms of saying that women deserve to be treated a certain way because of how they dress. It's that opinio that is wrong, and once again, men also need to have self and emotional control and we see time and time again that certain males simply have none.

Raya, of course people should show respect, but that kind of attitude and to say such things that some is responsbile for the reaction of others because of clothing, is beyond a joke and highly irresponsible.

France is not a Muslim country. Why can't somebody respect the rules of small comunity there and go swimming somewhere else? No, she couldn't. She chose to proclaim your stuff around via World media.

Sorry, I cannot see difference between "dress code" in Sahara Mall and ban for full-dressed swimming in one village in France.

Live and let live. Is it so difficult for understanding?

And RC, thank you for bringing this back on topic. This is exaclty the thing that irritates me the most. People cry 'respect Islamic culture' blah blah, but when MUslims are in other countries do they respect that countries rules and laws? No, they expect everyone else to bow down to them and their wishes all the time.

I am French and there is a debate here about this video.

Some argue that this situation was made intentionally by the woman, helped by the newspaper "Le Parisien" to create a national buzz.
Indeed that woman possesses some strong similarities with another woman interviewed months ago by the same media "Le Parisien" about the fact that she wears the niqab in France. This was during the national debate about the possible introduction of a law forbidding the Niqab.
The voice is the same, the age is the same, and the age of conversion to Islam is also the same. Only the name changes...

So, was this made intentionally ? Wait and see...

French muzzie minister urges burka ban

Urban Regeneration Minister Fadela Amara told the Financial Times that a veil covering everything but the eyes represented "the oppression of women".

Ms Amara said she was "in favour of the burka not existing in my country".

I think there is a thin line between exercising one’s beliefs freely and respecting the laws of the country.

For instance if a Caucasian woman lands in Saudi A and finds it appalling and chooses not to wear the abaya in public, I am sure she will be socially and perhaps legally prosecuted.

By that instance, it is fair to say that if there is a head scarf ban in France, a European country that prices itself on modernity and secularism with the majority being non-Muslims, then it should be respected.

By not wearing a headscarf/burqa/abaya, does that make a Muslim woman a lesser Muslim than a woman who wears such clothing items. I certainly would not like to think so. Hence, if such a law is instigated I think it is fair for Muslim women to wear head scarves during religious occasions, in their house, while praying etc. But keep it out of their daily social lives when interacting with the wider populace in France.

Flexibility and adjusting to the general norms, protocols and culture of a country is essential for non-friction. Besides I think governments are pragmatic in Europe and they would always try to come up with a bare-minimal or flexi restriction to keep the general accord and civic harmony.

Minister Fadela Amara is a commendable example of modernity and embracing the norms and core values of the country she now calls home being a Muslim of Algerian immigrant parents.

p.s.
Interestingly, I googled the spelling of the word "burqa" as I was unsure if it was spelt with a k or q and this is another article that was like the second hit and from today.

Burqa trouble in Mangalore

I honestly think that's progress from societies that are arguably higher on the learning curve in social reforms, gender equality , business practices and government administration.

"I cannot understand what some people find so offensive about women's breasts. This decision is important in order to stop the idea that women's bodies are only sex objects," said Frank Hedegaard from the Socialist People's Party.

Now this is highly pragmatic and funny.

"We don't define what bathing suits men should wear so it doesn't make much sense to do it for women. And besides, it's not unusual for men to have large breasts that resemble women's breasts,"
