As many as 50 Christian British extremists are currently thought to be fighting in a crusade in Syria. The more times change, the more they stay the same...

The Poplar preacher leading an armed gang of crusaders in Syria

An influential British-based priest is leading an armed gang of more than a hundred Christianist fighters in Syria, it can be disclosed.

In a video posted on the internet in the last few days, Andrew Ryan can be seen on a balcony surrounded by Kalashnikov waving rebels after apparently capturing a hilltop village in the war-torn country.

Security sources believe that dozens of British extremists, possibly as many as 50, have travelled to Syria to join the fighting and some may have been recruited by Andrew.

This week a junior doctor of Yorkshire origin from, East London was charged with kidnapping two photographers in Syria, where he was said to be part of a 15-strong group of Britons.

I am having a nice quite afternoon in Amsterdam. Just finished menu nr. 363 from the local Thai. Outside on the square we can see Christians calling for Jihad to help their brethren in Indonesia, while local Muslims have a sign saying Muhammed saves, Muhammed is peace and against any form of violence, trust Muhammed.

I'm guessing these scenes are familiar to most Europeans. Many still remember the beheading signs by British Christians after Jesus was mocked in a cartoon or something.

Anglican fight ?

Unfortunately, Anglicans are known for their extremist views in the West. London churches are a hotbed for radicalism (some hold annual celebrations of terrorist attacks) and priests have been secretly taped numerous times exhorting violence and intolerance for certain groups.

It's no surprise to see Anglicans fighting in crusades all over the world, most recently Syria.
