Slow internet service ??? Feb 17, 2008
Just curious if anyone else found their connection slow this afternoon? It started dragging this afternoon at work (Media City), but I see it is slow at home as well (DU area). Tried both laptops and the desktop, but all running at dial-up speed.

Dubai has state of the art Internet with speeds and quality of service to rival other World Class services you will find in any other great country.

Added to that we also have World Class industry best practice internet filtering to ensure children and young women are protected when they surf online.

Where else in the world will you find such services that both Du and Etisalat put together?

Seems to be better today. Yesterday was like they unplugged something in the afternoon. Either that or they didn't feed the hamster spinning the wheel that makes it all work!

Do you still use something like hotspotsheild when you use DU service? Media city (work) is not "filtered?", nor is my home area. I try to download as few as possible utilities to keep them from junking up my computer. I see everyone has this hotspot shield though. Wonder if they have it for MAC?

I use hotspot on DU...It plays up occasionally but often is very good!

I've used dial-up in other countries that's way faster than my Etisalat DSL connection. My guess is the proxy throttles everything.

Yeah net's a bit slow. Also today my Cable Modem line stopped working.

I had to hit the 'Repair' button in Connections to renew the IP Address. This problem started on a regular basis and happened to me like 3-4 weeks ago when the internet kept disconnecting for many people in the Jumeirah area and it was in the papers. Stopped for 2-3 weeks only to get disconnected again.

Guess its still not totally fixed.
