Does anyone use a tablet pc? Sep 07, 2008
am thinking of getting a tablet pc not sure which one to go for.

I did come across http://www.motioncomputing.com/ apparantely they make the best tablet pcs which are rugged and strong.

drop test

and theres even a water test where water is poured on the tablet pc.

price is high but i think with those tests it is certainly worth it.

i was only able to find Toughbook Wireless Display which is the one which best suits the construction field.

the other toughbooks are basically laptops where the screens can be twisted.

i like the Toughbook Wireless Display but I need to know does it have a built in camera for taking photos out on the job?

2ndly what about bar code reader?

i need something light and handy. the toughbook wireless display fits my requirement together with slate pcs from www.motioncomputing.com

I want to know will you be able to provide after sales support or will you have to send it back to your supplier for after sales support?

I dont like the U1 it has buttons i prefer something with touch screen.

by the way how much will the Toughbook Wireless Display cost me?

tablet pcs from www.motioncomputing.com are coming for roughly 2000 to 2500 dollars with 3 years warranty.

hi,

for what i understand your best bet would be the MOTION F5...they run anywhere from 2400-3300 depending on the specs. + 3 year warranty

other best options are xplore iX104c4/ix104c3 and the U1.
following U1 models come without the qwerty keyboard.

CF-U1ANBXZJJ & CF-U1ANBXZAJ

let me know if any more questions will be glad to answer

yeh i think motion computings F5 best suits my requirements. the xplore looks like it is more expensive then the F5 at 3,800 but might be cheaper not sure though. also am not sure if it has a camera. is looks to be more heavier then the motion computings tablet pc also the battery is for 4.5 hours whereas the other one lasts up to 6 to 7 hours.

which one do you think is the best?

I have the Fujitsu too.. but mine is the u810 and u820.

The world's smallest full laptop + tablet PC, only 5.6"

I replaced the vista OS with XP Pro and it flies.

With the U810, the only problem is the battery gets heated up.

The U820 is better in that sense plus its got built in 3.5G.

Here's a picture of it compared to a Nokia N95 Cell phone.

although the HP and Fuj have their own benefits when it comes to laptops but they do not offer mobility as motion computings tablet pc. www.motioncomputing.com And HP and Fuj are not rugged as motions tablet pc. drop the HP or the FUJ from your table and you will be sending it to service ppl to replace the keyboard or to replace the screen.

drop the motions tablet nothing will happen to it.
