Driving Licence Jul 09, 2008
Hi All,

My friend is leaving Dubai to return home to Slovakia for a few months. She will be leaving her job and her resident visa will be cancelled.

She wants to get a Dubai driving licence before she leaves as she wants to return in a few months to work and will need to drive.

She does have a valid EU licence but she wants a Dubai licence.

My question to you all is.....will the licence expire when she leaves Dubai or will it still be valid upon her return later in the year? I know the licence is valid for 10 years. Does it matter if you leave and then return?

Hope you can help.

Thanx

I understand the licence would be valid for the 10 years. A colleague of mine has returned to the UAE to work after a few years away and uses his old licence which still has four or more years left of validity.

Yes, I've done a similar thing, and kept my licence.
