Toyota may declare loss after 71 years! Dec 22, 2008
it seems not only the American car manufacturers are facing losses. the Japanese are soon to join the club.

I just hope that in some way we could find Toyota car prices in UAE get lowered.

Yes, the biggest automobile manufacturer Toyota is soon may declare its first operational loss since 1941 as reported on Reuters.com last Friday.

Toyota has apparently been slashing budgets across the board in recent months as sales have dropped by more than 30% in the US and in other parts of the world. At the same time, the value of the dollar against the yen has also dropped, meaning that Toyota is losing out on the currency exchange. Toyota (and Honda and Nissan) are navigating the same severe rapids as Detroit, they just started further upstream. The company has slashed production, canceled a diesel engine program for its big trucks and halted construction on a new factory in Mississippi. A profit warning announcement is expected from Toyota on Monday.

More than 75% of the workers in this country don't earn that in 2 years! Still overpriced and over rated!

I believe it's a Western financial crisis. Any and all economies heavily reliant on or tied to the Westenr world faces such crisis.

Japan's undoing has been its overreliance on Western, in particular American, econmy.

Many economies in the world are still growing healthily, except for in Western media it's rarely ever called global financial crisis. Let's face it, it's an American originated western financial crisis.

i think this system we have is totally dysfunctional. Companies will keep competing with one another, wages will go lower, unemployment rates will rise, and at some point goods and services will be provided by machines and no one will have money to buy them. I believe in a ressource based economy much more, but if we ever get to that, it'll probably be in 5 centuries...sad sad for us and for mankind
