Sharjah saw 60 crimes a day last year: police report says Jun 22, 2009
A crime was committed every 24 minutes in Sharjah, resulting in an average of 60 a day last year, according to the Sharjah Police Annual Statistics Report 2008.

A senior official at Sharjah Police said: "The crimes are not limited to murders and robbery offences, as there are also petty thefts and traffic-related accidents that are also classified under the category of crime.

"Residents should not panic about these statistics and police have already increased their patrols at night to monitor residential, commercial and industrial areas."

Now this is a little shocking. 60 crimes a day? Now that sure is a lot ain't it? Anyone here could elaborate what kinda crimes we talking about?

figure seemed ridiculous at first. Then I notices "traffic related accidents". This is what is driving the figure up.
