Why is it that you can find many alcohol serving bars and restaurants in Dubai, but casinos and gambling are strictly forbidden?

Alcohol is just as haram, if not more haram than gaming.

What is the reasoning behind this decision?

thank you.

By the way, what is the video game boxes in Dubai cafeterias?
It looks like card game computer or something like this.
Could anyone tell what is this for and why it's so popular?

And the alcohol is not perfect solution, but good illusion of soulition.

i guess stupidity it is.

but there must be a demand if they supply it. the people of dubai may overwhelmingly demand alcohol; so much so that if it wasn't legally available they would find another means of acquiring it. I'm thinking similar to prohibition in the USA. The demand was much too high so people found other ways to get drunk, which increased crime, etc. So it is better to supply it legally and regulate it then allow for the black market to make it one of their products.

This makes sense.

have they considered marijuana?

how popular is the use of marijuana in dubai? if not marijuana, hashish or other forms of cannabis?

bear in mind that even though alcohol is sold in dubai, Muslims are still forbidden to drink.
as with pork products (which are sold in some supermarkets) these products are aimed at non-Muslims.
