Perception And Reality Mismatch

Perception and reality mismatch Jun 11, 2012
I wonder if we'll see more women like this in the future... trying to be thin, tanned, blonde, silicone breasted, and wear clothing better suited to much younger women. If young women are trained that they have to maintain a certain standard of beauty throughout their lives, when it comes to old age the results can be - awkward? Perception and reality aren't matching here.

Reminds me of the tan lady from New Jersey brought up on charges for bringing her six year old daughter into the tanning booth with her.

Krentcil, 44, captured media attention this week after police charged her with child endangerment for allegedly taking her 6-year-old daughter into a tanning booth with her last month. Krentcil denies the charges, saying her daughter was sunburned after a long day of playing outside.

In subsequent TV interviews about the charges, Krentcil said she has tanned regularly for her whole life.

That's obvious, said dermatologist Dr. Susan Taylor of Society Hill Dermatology in Philadelphia.

Her color could be the result of a combination of spray tanning and tanning bed visits, Taylor said, but she doubts it. Spray tans typically give the skin a yellow-orange color (think Snooki from "Jersey Shore"), while the UV tanning booth light gives skin a "funny" brown color, she said.

Scary stuff.

Agree with Kanelli's sentiments in the OP.

DDS - the pic above doesn't seem to be photoshopped - the first Google result had the comment below about having gone tanning since the arrest:

Mug shot: Krentcil clearly went tanning after her April 24 arrest (seen here) as she is darker in recent images

Nope. There are other photos of her looking like a chocolate bar. There is an article where someone confirmed that more than likely she did tan and possibly used tanning lotions. her skin is a strong indication of someone overexposed.

But these women think they look beautiful with their tans, bottle blonde hair, bizarre make-up, fake boobs and fake nails.

I saw a woman the other day whose foundation was 5 x too light for her real complexion - bordering on geisha :) I just don't get it. Better to accentuate our best features and not try to create a whole new unnatural look.

Women with curly hair want to straighten it, those with straight hair want it curly.. then there's the hair colour... :D

(BTW - I make this reply number 11, for the trolls who are counting. ;) )

drewpeacock ,

What are you talking about?

Troll, you are all over the place, like dog sh*t. Every where we go we end up stepping in your sh*t.

What is your problem? Do you feel a need to pick up where someone else left off? Baiting left, right and center, looking for an argument. I would ask if you could get any more pathetic, but I already know that you would answer in the affirmative.

Therapy (in Greek: θεραπεία), or treatment, is the attempted remediation of a health problem, usually following a diagnosis. In the medical field, it is synonymous with the word "treatment". Among psychologists, the term may refer specifically to psychotherapy or "talk therapy".

Everyone is judgemental about something or another :)

What concerns me is the standard of beauty that some women in society are trying to achieve, and the age at which they are still trying.

kanelli ,

As the saying goes: no fool like an old fool. Age gracefully and dress appropriately is the way to go. I feel for the children of these mothers that are stuck in some time warp and insist on dressing like their daughters - to be cool. Children, especially girls, want to exchange clothes with their friends, not their mothers!!!
